No sé qué opinan. Acá están los convocados definitivos, luego de muchas idas y venidas, y confusiones:
Rodrigo Palacio (Boca); Germán Lux, Javier Mascherano, Víctor Zapata y Eduardo Tuzzio (River); Oscar Ustari y Federico Insúa (Independiente); Lucas Castromán, Rolando Zárate y Fabricio Fuentes (Vélez Sarsfield); Lisandro López, Cristian Grabinski, Sebastián Romero y Diego Crosa (Racing Club); Daniel Díaz y Martín Romagnoli (Colón de Santa Fe), Maximiliano Velázquez y Mauricio Romero (Lanús) y Fernando Belluschi (Newell's Old Boys de Rosario).

Placente, Saviola and Zanetti cannot play against Bolivia, but will likely start against Colombia.
Notable absents: Veron, Samuel, Tevez, D'alessandro.

Scaloni and Duscher :
These two guys did nothing to convince me that they deserve a spot. This was one game against Germany, but still....
Everyone else is good to go.. I really think Veron deserves a spot again...especially given the level of play he's showing at Inter. I don't get to watch as much soccer as I'd like (24/7) but when I've had the luxury of catchin an Inter game, Veron has always made an impact.
The absence of Tevez and Samuel isn't too surprising, since they haven't been in the best form. I LOVE both player's types of play. Samuel's defense, in years past, is just fantastic for man-to-man marking and he gives the Argentine backline some size, which it otherwise lacks. Even though he hasn't had the best year, I'd take Samuel not having a good year, over some of the others he's chosen. I hope he'll have a better year and get the spot back w/o question....

Tevez regardless of form has never let down the national team. He's a big game player who always comes through. Samuel too should be there. Veron I'm not to keen on anyway. To inconsistent. D'allesandro is no surprise. When you have Riquelme and Aimar in the attack, you really have to have great form to supplant those guys. Am I the only person watching the Bundesliga? Where is Demechellis? He's played well in Bayern all year. It's so great to have this many players to pick from!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is it the summer of 2006 yet!!!!!!!!

I'll have to catch a Bayern game.
Hey...summer of 2006....we don't need to wait that long for some good Int'l action. This June will be very very exciting. The Confederations Cup is in June and so is la revancha contra Brasil!

Pekerman has completed the list with the following players: Fernando Belluschi (Newell´s Old Boys); Rolando Zárate (Vélez Sársfield); Roberto Abbondanzieri and Rodrigo Palacio (Boca Juniors); Daniel Díaz (Cólon); Germán Lux, Javier Mascherano and Luis González (River Plate).
I'd like to see Pekerman put a B squad against Bolivia, so the main players will be in good physical conditions (taking the altitude issue into account) to play against a more difficult team like Colombia, even if it's at home. Something like...
Franco
Cufré, Gonzalo Rodríguez, Placente
Scaloni, Cambiasso, Clemente Rodríguez
Lucho González, Maxi Rodríguez
Galletti, Figueroa
... they shouldn't have too much trouble taking care of Bolivia. But meh.

Cufre get injured, and really I hate three men defense, more when we have great LB/RB, is pretty unnecessary to risk in that way. Is a pretty counterattack team the one you armed, will be better leaving a def mid aside and some help to Lucho in creation, remember that you get tired more runnning after the ball, than having it, but I know you take in account la altura so in your team and being more pragmatic.
WHo are the playmakers Pekerman called Aguante?

Dammit, you're right - Cufré got injured by dirty-ass Cafú! And now that I remember, both Placente and Zanetti are suspended for this match. Man, it seems like Pekerman will have some serious trouble with fullbacks for this next game. As efernandez said, Díaz will most likely replace Cufré... but still, the spot is lacking...
Playmakers? Riquelme, Aimar, Lucho González, Maxi Rodríguez, Belluschi, Bernardi. Hmmm... Pekerman prefers Belluschi and Bernardi over Verón? Sometimes it's a matter of taste, but that's just ridiculous. Have you seen him today against Fiorentina? Or the other day against Porto? I can't believe that he isn't even considered for the spot. D'Alessandro's case is at least a bit more understandable. He hasn't been playing really well, and he has been injured during the last month, I think... and he needs to show a little more maturity too.

Veron has been absolutely awesome these last matches for Inter. Can it be due to his relatively high age compared to the other midfielders that Pekerman doesn't call him up?

His age? Well, I don't think so. After all, Pekerman counts on other veteran players, such as Zanetti, Ayala and Crespo, who also share spots with younger players (Placente, Gonzalo and Figueroa, for instance).
I think there's something weird going on between Verón and Pekerman... but who knows...
Another thing that I personally don't agree with is calling so many defensive players. I mean, Ponzio? Duscher? We already have many alternatives, such as Milito, Burdisso and Gonzalo for the defense, or Mascherano, Cambiasso or even the versatile Coloccini for the defensive midfield. I believe the team would benefit more from creative or offensive players, such as Solari (he's doing great at R. Madrid, it's weird that Pekerman didn't call him), Tévez, Verón, Rosales, etc.

i dont understand why tevez continues to be left off the squad?? is he not performing well with corinthians, injured, or does a problem exist between himself and pekerman? since the copa america last sumer, tevez has become the one player which i think is capable of giving argentina that extra "edge".. why is it that hes not in la seleccion???

The play in Brazil of Tevez has been inconsistent. Sure he's starting to score goals but his attitude is the better than thou type. He's still a young man and needs to learn that he's not yet the best player in the world. The biggest mistake was made when he chose Brazil over Europe. In his home continent he is the best player and treated as such. In Europe he'd be one of many talented players trying to make a name. In Brazil he feels it's his birth right. To prove this point, look at how many times Apache has been in the news lately because he can't or won't get along with his team-mates. Is this really the type of player you want? Sure he's great but he needs maturity on a regular basis and realize that he is not so good he's above the team.
