Excellent news.

I wonder if there's any chance the Toffees will be MLS' opponent in this year's All-Star game

I guess an annual trip to Houston was too much to hope for :)

probably, but would the TOffee supporters from the UK be making the trip? Or is it too far of a trip for just a friendly?

Everton will be a nice little test for the MLS even if they don't have full squads.

I just hope the Galaxy treats this match with the respect it deserves and plays their full strength squad.

I would like to throw my .02 in here.

First of all, I, too, have had confirmation with the Galaxy front office that this is going to happen. However, please keep in mind that if Everton make it to Europe, I highly doubt this match will be a priorty to EFC...do you? If we make Champion's League, the only way I see this happening is if we send a youth team over. Just my opinion, like, but that's the way I see it.

If they do send a first team squad over...you can bet I'll be taking off work to head to L.A.!!

Everton should be coming over with the full squad, as it's part of pre-season training, so it should be a good couple of days out. I would also expect quite a few blues making the trip, due to the success of the Houston games.

I disagree normally we play a fair few friendlies before touring elsewhere, like the usuals of Crewe Tranmere etc.

What do you disagree with?

They normaly start off in Austria for a week, then play a couple of small matches, then it's off on the pre-season tour. I used to go on all the tours during the 70's and 80's.

Anyway, it might not happen, I've just found this.

Asia trip invitation for Blues

Feb 24 2005

By Scott McLeod, Liverpool Echo

Everton FC

EVERTON have been invited to take part in the Premiership-organised Asia Cup in July.

But Everton have not yet confirmed their involvement because plans for a return to the United States for a 10 day training camp are also being considered.

Everton chief executive Keith Wyness revealed: "We have received an invitation to take part and we have until Monday to give a decision."

<snip>

If Everton decline the invitation, Liverpool will be offered a place - although they are likely to turn it down as they are already working on other commitments.

If the Blues do say no, then they are expected to return to the USA in July after the success of last summer's training camp in Houston for the Copa de Tejas.

However, the destination this summer would not be Houston. Los Angeles is currently under consideration.
