I'll watch the first episode and then decide whether I'll continue to watch it or not.

That first show was great. The 16 guys trying to be the contenders are no stiffs off the street they are good fighters. One 3 in the world curently.
They were broken down into teams 8 on a side. They had a team challenge like in surviver. You win the chanlege the team can pick who they want to fight on the other team and who will fight that person picked.
One team wins and they chose a fighter that made no sense to choose. They are all middle wts they pick the best fighter on paper the guy rated 3 in the world to fight. A crazy choice a nobody said he wanted to fight the best on the other team.
Excpet that nobody was a really good fighter accurate and fast hands. he was a very good fighter.
He actually wins the fight and not only that unnanomus decision unbelievable.
The fights had an attendence and some famus people show up to watch what turned out to be a great fight.
Match was to last max 5 rounds that is a long time in boxing. Only bad thing was they edited the fight for TV instead of showing the whole fight. about a minute to a minute and a half a round which inclued replays of the best shots.
It did make it more exciting for the novice fan of boxing.
If anyone gets a chance to see the contender you should see it.
Training facilitiy good but you only saw themspar and hit the bag. Living area in that gym above the gym is pretty nice.
Then they actually rented houses close to the gym and brought their families to LA so the fighters can have contact with them. That was a smart move.
Check it out it is very good.

I don't think I can watch a reality show knowing that one of the contestants killed themselves after filming. Whether it affects the outcome or not it just seems like it would be very uncomfortable.

SOMEONE should start watching it: Drudge says it finished dead last in its timeslots in the overnights, with a 5.6/8. Ouch.

How long before it gets moved to Bravo?
I agree with (TxT), I'd feel too much like a ghoul watching this knowing one of the guys offs himself.
Anyone who did like this should probably also check out Ultimate Fighter on SpikeTV, which is about five weeks into its run and getting pretty good ratings for that network.
The problem with all the shows like this, IMO, is that they spend too little time on training, etc., and too much on who doesn't like who and other nonsensical BS.

Ratings were bad because it is on the same time as a popular show. That's not going to be the regular time.
I watch Ultimate fighter could have been great but it wasn't. The fighters break the rules at a drop of a hat and get away with it. There athletic trainers are very good. Then they have 2 past champions as coaches they are not so go. it looked like they found their fighters off the street.
they had more then two people training in that little octagon ring that they use. One of the two guys training falls into the second group of 2 by accident and one gets hurt and can't continue in the competition. They throw him a bone and make him a coach. They let anybody coach. Then they give him the power to name his replacement for him in the comp from people who were already beat. I guess they could not find anyone new no waiting list? He names a trouble maker to come back but he was a tough fighter but was tghe main ruile breaker. That was a stupid move.
They allowed no tv or anything else to entertain these guys, but they let them has booze in the house. They drank too much hafl of them have no self control that my friends is a sign of weakness. The weak don't win championships last time I looked.
So it could have been great but lack of clear cut rules and sticking to those rules messed it up. Plus bad coaching.
Proof that talent in the game does not make good coaches of the game.

I haven't seen it, but watching the previews for it gives me an idea what type of contenders the producers chose. Seems to me they chose a bunch of sob stories when they should have added some S.O.B's and a couple of semi-reformed dregs of society to spice up the mix. Nothing grabs ratings more than a psychotic and they should have added a psycho ala Mike Tyson in the show instead of casting every boxer in the show to be Rocky type schleppy underdogs.

There are a lot of love of family in this. Since when do fighters take their little kids to an arena to watch them fight? My father never did that with me, but I was around to see my brother fight.
Not everyone fights for their family. Some just like making money and hitting the opponent. Not that their is much money for the fighter in the middle weight class, but the best technical fighters are in this class. They are a lot better then light heavy or heavy wt. But you make more money in heavy and see more knock outs in that division.
One of the fighters they call Hollywood seems to be like that.
It is on again Sunday at 8PM eastern a new show #3 in the series if I recall. You should actually see it first before you post.

I have both episodes recorded but I have yet had time to watch them (I'll watch them this weekend, for sure). ;)
I believe that Sunday evenings will be the show's timeslot for the rest of its run.

I think it is a very good show. The only complaint is the editing of the fights, but it makes it more exciting and is the only way it could be done anyway.

I just finished watching both recorded episodes on my DVR.
Really good show with interesting rivalries building up between the two teams (East vs. West) and within the West team.
I'll definitely watch episode #3 tomorrow (Sunday).

Saw number 3 tonight the fight turned out the way I thought it would, BUT
next #4 they want to bring back someone who already lost. That blows my friends. They do that I find no reason to watch any more.

No chance, it will be one of the two first guys that lost. Doesn't really matter who because bring anyone back that lost is a turn off. Notice Mel Gibson was at number 3 fight. Too bad they did not show fight 3 press conference :-) That was probably real good.
