i've gotten my first ever pair of adidas boots a few weeks ago, the pulse2 beckham fingerprint ones. the shoe laces are REALLY long! the other players i've seen don't have to loop the laces under the shoe to get rid of slack. how do you do it? i have to loop mine around the heel, and i still have to do a little folding when done.
also, how is it that some of the tounges (sp?) are long? i got mine just beyond the 3rd "curler" yet gerrard's and beckham's are just over the 1st "curler"?

bear with me, this is the first time i've had adidas boots. :D

Tie them as tight as you need them. in a bow. And just trim the excess part of the laces off. The just burn the end of them to stop them from fraying. Thats what i do when my laces are too long. Other than that just tie them under. Or buy some shorter laces.

I tie mine in the first little loop thingy, then tie them under, then tie them up with a double-loop. Otherwise, ie. with astro's etc. I do what applecorr suggested. :)

Yeah thats another good idea if they are just black! But the only disadvantage to cutting your laces is you cant thread them back through if ever you need to take them out. The laces are WAY too long on the preds though. I have no idea why they are that long!!

they are that long so that you can customize them to however long you want them

I think we had a thread on this like a few months back...
Anyways I run the laces into the spaces between the last and 2nd last studs, instead of making a 'vertical' loop. This way the loop is larger and the bulk of laces with the knot is smaller~
Diadora-endorsed athletes did this first with their shoes (eg Baggio and Stankovic). When I saw that I tried the same.

i tie them normally then cut the lace i dont need off and just tie a knot on the end on the lace so it doesnt come back through the hole. i saw pics of both vieira and becks boots and the laces were the same way.

if you twist the lace ends when you burn them, you can re-thread them through the holes with ease.

boh. looks like i'm stuck doing the loops then. i don't like doing it as i find that it wears the laces off more easily.
what about the tounge? i read somewhere that one of you restitches the garter. i don't want to do that.

I've also just switched over from Nike to Adidas and I'm too surprised by the extra laces given. I mean a little bit extra is fine but Adidas really goes overboard! I can go around the boot twice before tying a double knot!
Anyways I plan on just cutting them, sealing the end with a lighter and use some white athletic tape to make the hard lace ends. You can rip or cut the tape to adjust the size.
Also I believe that Gerrard's and Beckham's tounges are longer because they don't lace up to the laces to the top holes but rather stop at the second to last holes. Then they just fold the tounge down further to cover up the lace area making for a smooth kicking surface. In Beckham's case it almost looks as if he doesn't tie a knot underneath as there is no bump! I wonder how he does it?

Beckham doesn't thread through the top 2 holes, but also his elastic on the tongue is further up than the preds sold in shops, which enables the tongue to come down further, but still the elastic will stretch to the front of the boot. (In my pulses, i try to pull the tongue far, but the elastic has become really loose, so i either pull the elastic back- which mucks up the tongue or just wear them normally). In the easter im going to a cobblers and getting my elastics on my tongues restitched like Beckham.
