just wondering if you could have one player back from a past united team in their prime who would it be.
iof course its hard to ignore marco and the magic he used to create but he is pretty much a given so i think i would have to go with raul diaz arce, he just had such a simple personaity and always in the right spot at the right time. Tony sanneh was always one of my favorites running the right side for us in the beginning and its hard to forget geoff aunger not the most skilled player but man if someone picked on of our skill players he would lay them out quick.
here is a link to dc's historic roster for reference

Or Convey. That list is very incomplete.
There are only a few players I'd consider bringing back given the current level of play in MLS. Etchverry is one. Maybe Harkes. But given the current team and the current MLS the guy I'd bring back is Nelsen. No question about it.

It seems like it hasn't been updated since the end of the 2003 season (and very sloppily at that - Stoitchkov is listed as having been on the team in 1999), and no current players, except Moreno, who was in Hell in 2003, are listed on there.
As for who I'd rather have back, I've got to agree with Knave on Nelsen.

Brian Kamler. I liked Kamler's heart and his willingness to play any position to help the team. Also, he was very nice and engaging at the "Meet the Team" event. Real down to earth.

It's like herpes, it's fun getting it, then once you realize it's never going away, you curse the day you got it (or learned the song).
For the record, the Ted Eck, Ted Eck Ted Eck Ted Eck Ted Eck is the only one I Ted Eck have

Well, this seems like a good place to post it, FoxSports has the biggest MLS transfers, 13 in all. Only DC player on there is Stoitchkov, anyone else think this is just wrong.

I would have to go with Nelson too.

i think id take nelson over pope
hate to take the kiwi over the yankee but nelson may not be as strong or fast but his leadership and clean but wreckin ball tackles when needed are priceless. pope always seems to have that timid look on his face and going to react to the other players where nelson looks like the crazy guy who is going to make you deal with him.

Yeah, but Nelson never scored the HUGE goals like Pope did.

i was a little confused at the beginning--is it a player who was in their prime for united or any former united player in their prime, regardless of when that was?
if it is the latter--stoichkov, hands down. greatest player ever to play in MLS based on overall career (not just MLS time and Lothar can kiss my fat ass)
while at united--marco. love ryan but marco made the league.
