this is one thing that always bothered me in soccer. the contact, arguments, and other forms of disrespect that the refs receive is disgraceful imo. maybe this is just a cultural difference, but in the US, this treatment would never be tolerated (not saying it doesnt happen).

Perhaps when officials raise their game, show some consistancy, some common sense and treat the players with respect, then they will be treated likewise. Look at Collina, he does all of the above and is the most respected referee around. Others should be following his lead.

When officials finally stand up to the Rooneys of the world things will start to change.

Agreed. Any player who tells the ref to "******** off" should get an automatic yellow card. Same goes for disputing decisions. They'll soon learn.

when you see collina at a match, you will almost never see someone saying **** off to him or yelling back aty him
when that happens, collina just gives out a card or just starts to laugh at them because he knows he is the best ref and should be respected
