I was really surprised by this. The Rapids have declined the options for both of their Cuban strikers. I didn't think Martinez in particular was half bad.

It just goes to show that I will never understand the ways of Fernando.

I think it's interesting that Carrieri got the boot, again. Will he never find a spot in MLS again? Is he even worth the trouble of a trial?

EDIT: Not that I want him on United. We don't need another offensive player anyway. Just a curiuos situation.

I didn't think it needed to be spelled out for everybody, but, yes, that was the point...

I haven't seen this elsewhere, and this is a strange source, but it looks like San Jose waived C.J. Klaas. He's a very good player. (Glancing at the SJ board, it looks like he's been finishing school and hasn't really participated in camp.)

The source? The MFLS news archive: http://www.mfls.com/index.php?Mlist=news_archive

I thought he was a midfielder, but at the combine he was actually listed as a defender (though he played all over). Finishing school or not, I'd be tempted to bring him in. We need the defensive depth.

Also, New England waived Tony Lochhead, but I think he's going overseas. In fact, I actually think he's already there and basically never really made it to the Revs camp.

Klaas was one of the surprises at the Superdraft in terms of how much he dropped - going in the 3rd round. I am sure that the going rate for him in terms of a trade would be a 3rd round pick based on last' year's waived Spuerdraft pick market (i.e. Khari Stephenson was picked in the 3rd round in the 2004 Superdraft by CHI who cut him prior to the season, then KC acquired his rights from CHI for a 2005 Superdraft 3rd round pick).

Sawyer is another surprise cut - he was supposed to be one of the highest rated goalies in the Superdraft.

C.J. Klaas is a good player, however his size (just a hair bigger than Richie Williams) will always be a detriment in this league..

He would be reserve team material at best I would guess..
