Adu is starting to notice the benefits of increased strength. In United's preseason exhibitions, he hasn't been getting shoved aside by larger opponents like he often was last year. He is also a little faster, bigger leg muscles providing greater acceleration, he said.

I just hope Freddy is still as quick. And I think he will force his way into the starting lineup as he will be too good not to have out there for every possible minute.

It's good to see that the "roids" are working.

I've been saying it since the end of last season. He is gonna breakout this year big time
9-13 goals
4-7 assists

I think you have have goals and assists reversed, this season he will create more than score.

Just one more clue that women (of all people) are infiltrating the formerly proud bastion of men's soccer. All because of Title IX:

According to Trevor Moawad, a mental conditioning coach at IMG, Adu put on 12 pounds in 12 days in Bradenton.

Pregnancy will do that for ya.

Just my opinion.

The first thing you'll notice about the new Freddy Adu is his hair -- it's growing out and getting a little puffy. His D.C. United coaches and teammates tease him, bouncing the palms of their hands off it. His mother winces when she sees it.

I'm absolutely stunned that nobody beat me to a "Fro Adu" reference.

Oh boy. When I read this article, I thought, that anti-weight lifting guy on BS is going to show up big time.

I highlighted the part about eating vegetables and salad and gave the article to my 8 year old!

I expect him to create a lot of goals, too. He seems like an unselfish player.

Freddy is trying to get Cornrows. I can see it. If he gets the Jay-Jay Okocha, Allen Iverson influence, I'll accept it.

But if he goes for the Kluivert, Rio Ferdinand, David Stokes model, I'm afraid Emelia will need to step in and put a serious end to this nonsense.

I'm thinking Mohawk.

Found a recipe for a version of Ma Adu's Jollof Rice... Wonder if she has any personal "tweaks"...

That little factoid (12 pounds in 12 days) is exactly the sort of thing that's going to lead to speculation from other BS-ers about Adu and steroids. (sigh). Knave--do you want to set up an all-encompassing thread to handle all Adu steroid rumors (much like the "age thread" last season)?

Doesn't MLS have a drug testing policy?
