There is one for player, might as well be one for the team name.

Grampus Eight in the J-league is a pretty unique name in my opinion.

J-League has some unique and cool Latin sounding club names, but Grampus Eight sounds like constipation medicine.

Coolest football club name would be FC Asskickers... but to my chagrin, they don't exist...

So River Plate is, I think, the coolest sounding club name.

Heart of Oak. Nothing even comes close (ok, maybe "The Strongest")

My avatar (Ted Leo) agrees - Hearts of Oak.

FC Wacker Tirol from Austria and, on a similar theme, Deportivo Wanka of Peru. Maybe not the coolest, but "interesting" enough.

There's a club named, Deportivo Wanka? You're shltting me, right?

If you're not, I feel bad for that club's supporters. Some English dudes will ask them who they support and they'll tell them they support Wanka's.

I've always been fond of the Trinidad team Joe Public (and of course their women's affilaiate Jane Public) but they don't see to be showing up in the fixtures anymore. Trinidad also has the worst team name in all of world soccer--Vibe CT 105 W Connection f. c.

Damn- you sure thats not a radio station?

It's a soccer team sponsored by a radio station. They put "f.c" at the end of it so they must be traditionalists.

Tallinn Plywood & Furniture Factory (or TVMK Tallinn as they are slightly better known) - Classy.

Cefn Druids, from Wales. Better than the run of the mill rovers or city.
Ditto, Almondsbury Picksons. I've no idea what a pickson is.

Eleven Men in Flight is a classic name.

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch FC, deep in the welsh leagues, has a good name. A very long scarf too, no doubt. I've heard on occasions their fans really do start the chant "give me an L..."

Tottenham Hotspur
Suwon Bluewings
FC Zamalek
Sporting Cristal
Rochester Raging Rhinos

Honorable mention to FC Koln, because they have got the crest with FCK in big letters...and a goat...not sure why.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle - SPL

Kawasaki Frontale - Japanese J-League

Marconi-Fairfield Stallions - Australia

Constant Spring - Jamaica

Santiago Morning - Chilean 2nd division

Happy Valley - Hon Kong :)

FC KooTeePee, FC Jazz - Finland

Dungannon Swifts - N. Ireland

SC Young Fellows Juventus - Switzerland

New Radiant - Maldives

Some team names are fairly prosaic, but manily because I don't know what they all mean. Hopefully our foreign friends can enlighten us.
