this is a long shot but i was wondering about a new game concept...what if there was a game say for ps3 whenever it comes out or whatever...

where instead of playing as a team and controlling all of the players its sort of like a soccer rpg genre...at the beginning u can make your own player or whatever and at whatever position..and u sign for a low division team..and u actually have to play as that position u put yourself in..for example if youre a striker u have to play as a striker on the team and play on the pitch as an actually striker..

it might get boring but maybe they can implement time changes like in football manager...there would also be training routins to build up your player..u can sign contracts..maybenew contracts if youre good or not..fired if u suck..traded etc..and the side quests is if u get a lot of money u can buy stuff on the side..such as cars or whtever..which gives u an incentive to be a better player and get a better contract..

the mission of the game would be to be on your favorite team or be on a team where you make the most money..also hopefully be on your national team..play world cup..league cups etc...what do you guys think? am i thinking too far into the future here?

o ya also if ur a player u can choose to either go with ur managers tactics or not and that will decide on ur outcome as a player..have arguments etc..like if ur a left or right back and the coach wants u to stay defensive but u like moving forward...stuff like that

That would be pretty cool, I think. That concept has never really been implemented for a sports game, and it might take some polishing.

Oh but it has been implemented, just not for soccer as far as I know.

Since it's been done for OOTP - then I think we can expect it for FM 2006.

its libero grande mode. the only difference is that you add a story to it. i would give it a try. if they could put it together correctly, it could be pretty fun.

Yes, basically what you're asking for is the style of gameplay used in G1 Jockey, though obviously it's easier to implement in a sport that's not as 'team' oriented.

It needs to be well done... it can't be tedious... because that's the problem that has popped up in the past... I'd love it really... can you imagine your coach getting mad at you because you get caught offside too much? or that you are not working hard enough on defense if you are a middie? I think it could be great...

yeah i was thinking about this a while back! but if you don't do it right it could be ridiculously, agonizingly boring, and i think they should just add it on as a different mode instead of devoting the whole game to this concept, but i think its a great idea if it can be done correctly

The problem is that it will be a huge hit or a huge miss. And at the beginning, it will most likely be a huge miss until they refine it. I don't think developers will take that chance.

yeah most likely. But if they put it as another mode just to try it out as well as have the traditional Career Mode to see how it works and how to improve it it might have a chance

Not that new of a concept: http://www.newstarsoccer.com

Gets boring after a while, and it's text-based, but what the heck, it's what you're looking for. Plus it has a lot of leagues.
