The all access video from March 1st titled "Fit to Run"
Pretty standard video from us soccer about training camp, until the very end, when a certain oft-injured midfielder of BS fame rolls in to say hello.
Just visiting? Who knows, but nice to see him near the national team environment.

What's interesting is the BA states "He's back for a couple months rehabbing."
What about his contract with Den Haag (sp?)?

Any appeareance by JOB at this point is a good sign. I just wtched the Korea '02 WC match again last night. What an f'ing amazing pass JOB made to Mathis for the goal.
The common story on JOB is that he left Ajax for ADH b/c he is fully healthy and in form and was being left off the roster even though Ajax has a mid-field crisis. If that is true, I would assume his "alternative" therapy is all about injury prevention and he could be available to play this month.
Anyone know the scoop?

In fact, the dissection over on the YA board basically came out with:
1) JOB had fallen out of favor with Ajax.
2) While he had played in some reserve games, it was unclear (as no one, even a few of our Euro-based posters) had seen him play. In other words, it's not clear that he's back to full health. Given past precedence, odds are not in his favor on that front.
3) Den Haag offered him a contract and, most likely as part of the negotiating, agreed to let him come back to the States for special treatment and recuperating.
While he's propably going to be around the camp, I'd be SHOCKED if he put his health or future status with his new club in jeopardy. I'd be very interested to hear what kind of clauses were agreed to by Den Haag -- in other words, I wonder if he's even "allowed"* to play for the MNT prior to joining the Dutch side.
* Perhaps too strong a word/phrasing, "discouraged from playing" is potentially more accurate.

I wish we could actually find out what JOB's injury status is, as I'm still a bit puzzled by the whole thing. He apparently left Ajax because he was not in the coach's plans at a time when he was fully fit and ready to play for the first team. If his gripe with Ajax was that he was not being considered for first team playing time, why would he make a move that definitively eliminates any chance of first team playing time for the rest of the season?

Doesnt training under pierre barrieu and spending time with National team medical staff classify as 'alternative treatment'? Pierre is one of the best in the world at what he does, from all appearances. He knows athletes and physiology well enough to tailor workouts to get the most out of each body.
Why would it not make sense for ADO to allow JOB to come to the US, get some fitness with the National team, so long as he is not involved in any contact drills..? Especially if they decided he wouldnt be a part of this season at ADO... Its a total win-win.
My guess is that JOB is out there for precisely that reason. He knows that the best way for him to keep fit for next few weeks is to do the running that the other NATS will do. As they mentioned in the video, these sessions are about fitness, but with a close consideration of overtraining. Those were mile intervals they were running, as far as I can tell.
That sort of thing is great for your O2 uptake, but not so difficult as to cause fast twitch injury like sprinting would. A perfect routine for a guy in JOB's situation.

It may be that he simply felt he deserved to be playing but Koeman was not going to play him no matter what, for whatever reason. In that situation, sticking around is pointless, particularly if he didn't know that Koeman was going to quit.
I don't worry about JOB at all though, because talent-wise he will always be an attractive target for good clubs to pick up. I do hope that his stay at ADO is limited to this upcoming season, though, because I'd like to see him playing with a better team with Champs league or UEFA Cup aspirations, not just avoiding relegation. Maybe JOB to the EPL?

if you were ajax, would you continually PAY a player who's always hurt???
hopefully JOB rehabs well, and in the ebst of all worlds, he can play in GOLD CUP...
then maybe things evolve from there.

That's possible. But is putting yourself in a situation where you definitely will not be playing, no matter what, for the rest of the season, any less pointless than sticking around Ajax? Like I said, it just seems odd to me that his problem at Ajax was that they weren't going to play him, so he decides to call off the rest of the season.

I'm guessing it was easier for him to sign with a new club if he committed to going to get some alternative therapy in the States for his injuries and not remaining with Ajax. Staying at Ajax and perhaps getting injured again during rigorous training and fighting for a spot, and not seeing much if any playing time, would not increase any interest that other clubs would have in him.
And I don't see JOB's current situation as one in which he will definitely not be playing. Sure there won't be any club ball, unless he somehow gets loaned to an MLS side, but he could play for his country. If his therapy comes along, who's to say (maybe his new contract does, I don't know) that JOB won't be able to appear in one of the four matches the USMNT has scheduled in March?
If Arena had to choose between Dempsey, Olsen, or JOB for a central midfield role at Mexico or home to Gaut, who do you think he'd opt for?

sorry, blue. I must've missed that thread. apologies...
Any insight you want to impart? Did he look up to speed? Tentative?

I can't see arena putting JOB into azteca or birmingham because of lack of match fitness....
a few months rehab, then some off the bench activity in Gold Cup would be my recipe....
then off tor preseason camp in holland, and possibly some late Hex call-ups...

I don't think any club can stipulate that a player not play for his country regardless. They may not like it, he may suffer consequences but a club can't write that into a contract.
What's really interesting is what was the informal agreement between the two parties.
If his contract doesn't start until the summer do they have any say whatsoever regarding JOB's activities this spring?
If JOB is actually healthy I bet he at least makes the bench by the Guat game.

I'm sure some one is paying insurance right now, more than likely JOB...
if he tears his ACL next week, his new club side won't honor the contract...
now, once pre-season camp rolls around and he tears it, the contract is valid

As far as your typical mid-career pro athlete, JOB is really in a unique form of limbo which I'm hardpressed to find a comparison for. It's all a really weird set-up at the moment, out of contract but with a contract...rehabbing but maybe ready to play...though was healthy enough to play for Ajax a week and a half ago - we think.
Draw conclusions at your own peril but guess at his next step to your delight!

he was ready to go, in no way tenative - i last saw him on tuesday, he left on friday - i suppose its possible some setback happened in thise two days, but there was no news of this here - on that cold, wet tuesday morning, i saw JOB make the greatest, most acrobatic line clear i may have ever seen in my life and popped right up - after training, we laughed over it and he said he couldn't believe he actually kept it out...
damn, i'm gonna get depressed again:(
