I wonder if Nick Hornby has the good sense to remove his name from this...its a borderline chick flick fer cryin' out loud!

Calling it "borderline" was very generous. Looks like it's hoping the sports angle will trick some guys into seeing it, a la Jerry Maguire or Tin Cup.
I was at least hoping that the movie would follow the book's format, and focus on the growth of his love for the team. I was planning on seeing the movie, since the other Hornby novels had faced some changes, but still came out as decent movies. After seeing the trailer, I think I'll skip this one.

I correct myself upon a second viewing. Its 100% chick flick.

Okay, making it about baseball was bad enough for me to vow never to see it. But I'd rather eat feces on toast than see either Drew Barrymore or Jimmy Fallon alone in a movie. Putting them together in one film is as clear an indication of pure evil as anything I've seen since Joan Rivers had her own TV show. If Dummy Moore has a role in this film, then the Apocalypse is upon us.

Since I'm a chick and a Red Sox fan, I'm going to see this movie. I will not be expecting anything remotely similar to the Nick Hornby book or original film, so I won't be dissapointed by that.

I'm a longtime Red Sox fan, but I'm not so sure about this one...

Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon?
Holy Frijole, is this true? I'm too afraid to click the link.
I thought the Colin Firth film was diverting enough, if not actually good (unless you were a huge football fan yourself).
I guess Fallon is a Sox fan given all those stupid "Boston video camera" skits.
But Seth Meyers gets the props for his hilarious "Hey Jeter! YOU SUCK!" skit with Derek Jeter himself. Baseball bores me to tears, but just the thought of that still cracks me up.

This explains them both being on the field when the Sox won the Series in game four.

as if red sox fans weren't annoying enough...now they have a movie about them to make them think the world does in fact revolve around them. ugh.

Actually he's really not. From his ESPN Page 3 interview:
I was never really serious with one team. I was into the Mets because my Dad worked at IBM where he got free Mets tickets, so I was into the Mets ... then I got to "Saturday Night Live" where my boss has unbelievable N.Y. Yankees tickets, so he invites us to the games. I'm going to all the games, so I might as well root for the team I'm gonna go sit with. I became a Yankees fan for a few years. But now, I gotta say, I'm really rooting for the Red Sox.
And there you have it folks--Jimmy Fallon, glory-hunting muppet.

There's nothing more stupid than remaking a movie that isn't even 10 years old because you think you'd sell more tickets using baseball instead of soccer.
I predict a steaming pile of crap.

It's because the Red Sox are the new Yankee's with their legion of bandwagon fans. This movie could have the two worst lead actors you could think of and it will still get good reviews cause it has to do with the Sox. Oh wait, that is whats happening.

Oh man, that movie looks terrible. I should have known right from the baseball with stiches arranged to form a heart. I have a feeling it will probably sell alright at the theaters, though.
So there's no conflict at all with using the same name as the movie with Colin Firth?
