ActiveX on Firefox (or Safari)

Unfortunately it is imperative that I have this working. I can use IE on my work PC which is annoying but I planned to buy a Mac soon but will not be able to do this if I can't get it sorted out.

I've googled it and found a few articles describing how to install it but had no luck.

Has anyone managed to do this?

Well can't help you with activex on firefox, but if you plan on buying a Mac you can forget about activex. It's not available on a Mac, nor is it needed really.
