To all players and fans. What is the best position in a soccer game? Is it the foward who scores the goals? Is it the midfield who controls the pace of the game? Is it the defence who stops the offence?Or is it the keeper who stands in the line of fire? Send all the trash talk and may the best man Win.
pss.. give an example of the player or players who made you pick that position.

I have played in all outfield positions and by far my favorite was on the right wing, i love having the ball at my feet and being able to run at defenders and try a few tricks and set up goals as well as scoring one here and there....

For me personaly its a striker as its the position i play in but as in team wise it had to be the midfield imho.

Every position is good if you can play and are given the freedom to attack space.

I think in the modern game, wing backs have become much more influential. Players like Ashley Cole, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Lizarazu. They are strong both in defense and attack and create a lot of depth in their sides game.

All the positions are important, but here are few that i would hate where people who dont know how to handle the ball play. In order of importance:

1. Central midfield
2. Center forward
3. Central defender

I think defender is more important than forward, because one bad defender will cause 5 goals where a good forward will score 2 goals, but defenders need to be tough and strong more than anything.

I have played everywhere at some time, including in goals. My favourite position was sitting in a defensive midifield role, in front of the back four, to break up the opposition play and then driving forward to start an attack. For me, that position has it all.

Defending is definitely more important than attacking. You can score all the goals you would like but what any good is it if you cant defend the attack at all.

Attacking is definitely more important than defending. You can defend really well, but what good is it if you can't score any goals? ;)

i agree
i hate teams that only defend
i know it gives you wins but i just prefer attacking football
ex. i prefer brazils game (attacking) instead of greeces game (defending)

the best position id say it CM or any player that just controls the game
like ronaldinho, totti, nedved, zidane, etc

I've played everywhere, and I think that Defense/Keeper are the most important positions out on the field. I play keeper for my select team, and as long as my defense does their job and I do mine, we can get at least a point out of every game. Strikers can sit there and score goals all day long, but if they don't have a strong back line and keeper, their team will probably lose.
