I know that our traditional rivals are manure and everturn, however i can sense chelsea being added to that list of hated rivals. I don't hate Chelsea right now like I hate manure and toffees, but these past few matches vs Chelsea have left me exhausted and heartbroken, I think it's a good rivalry and if Chelsea stay on course I think that this will become as heated as Liverpool vs Manu. I also think that our respective colors could easily fuel this rivalry, as we are the only club that wears all Red and Chelski wears all blue.,,,

What do you think?

I think all football fans around the world will learn to hate Chelsea. Wheather its there classless, arrogant manager or the way they steal away your team's best player with the ridiculous prices they pay in the transfer market. Or maybe you hate Chelsea for protesting a game after they were outclassed by a better team. Everyone will hate Chelsea for one reason or another.

I like your attitude.

It is one thing to play a team well; it is another to get a result against them. Sure we've played well against Chelsea but we have yet to experience victory against Mourinho's men. I think the rivalry has elevated with Mourinho's gesture towards Liverpool fans at Cardiff and now I expect him to get a verbal beatdown by Liverpool fans during future visits to Anfield.

Once Rafa gets the players he really wants this rivalry will go to the next level.

Adding insult to injury... my theatre arts professor looks exactly like Mourinho. I may have to show him a two-footed tackle before the end of the semester. I can see his obnoxiously large forehead wrinkling as he motions me to stop talking in class. "Shhh" this, **************... ...and go f'n shave already.

I just wish someone would have taken out Lampard in the Final to payback what he did to Alonso.

The ironic thing about Chelsea is for all the money they have spent, without Robben, they are hardly an imposing team. They are consistent and don't make mistakes, but hardly inspiring.

Mourinho like Houlier is from the let's not lose school. rather than the let's go out and win.
They're not giving up many goals and as you say "without Robben, they are hardly an imposing team" goalscoring.

Right now (as much as I hate to say this) manure's let's all go and score...we can rugby tackle if they counter, attitude. Is preferable

Jesus, enough already. It was an accident.

As for this thread - rivalry? Um, huh? It'd be entirely one sided. Almost no one I know on the Chelsea boards dislikes Liverpool (almost:)). Is losing one game where you felt you should have won and then a manager making a shushing sound to fans who'd been heckling him all day enough to start a rivalry? Really?

Chelsea haven't earned the right to have a rivalry with us.

I have a long coat that I wear to work that looks just like that long grey coat he always wears on the sideline, it makes he feel dirty to wear it now :D

It's not like Chelsea have usurped us as the dominant force in England and/or Europe, record wise to a certain extent. Only Man Utd can barely qualified as that. Furthermore, not that a football club in London can be considered local rival...

In order for Chelsea to rival us, they need to win at least 2 Champions League titles and a dozen EPL titles. Throw in a couple more League Cups and FA Cups helps too. :D

ok, so in that case, is the thread closed now for discussion? :D

Your right. Its not a rivalry for that reason. Cheslea fans have no reason to hate Liverpool at the moment, but Liverpool have plenty of reasons to hate Chelsea. How many times is Frank Lampard going to try to recruit Steven Gerrard? It wasn't enough for him to break Alonso's leg I guess. Everybody hates Chelsea. Get used to it.

I've seen no actual evidence that Lampard has constantly "recruited" Gerrard. Not that he needs to. The advantages of playing for us are obvious. ;)
As for everyone hating Chelsea - there's a reason why no one hates Norwich. Or Leeds. Or Crystal Palace. I'll take the hate. :)

Noone hates Chelsea out of jealousy, trust me. I know you'd all like to think it, but it's not true.

People hate Chelsea because they were the most mediocre team EVER and have all of sudden won the lottery and don't appear to have any humility about it at all. You guys survived on your location alone and were nothing at all to write home about. Then one day, a man comes in and just chooses you, strictly out of nowhere. He wasn't a fan, wasn't impressed with your history or winning tradition (what winning tradition???), he just wanted a team that needed a new owner, and then announces "I will spend until we win the title". I mean, at least George Steinbrenner loves the New York Yankees...and you know that Jerry Jones truly does understand the history of the Dallas Cowboys.

If you can't understand why the difference between people hating you now, and people hating Man United a few years back, then you don't understand football.

That’s definitely a big part of it for me. I certainly wouldn’t hate them as much if they were mid-table.

But there’s not much to like about their gazillionaire owner and egomaniacal manager, either. (Although, I should add, he seems to be the kind of manager you love if he’s running your team, and you absolutely hate if he’s not.)

I think this, coupled with the fact that they’ve had a great season so far, are the reasons everyone hates them.

I wouldn't say a rivalry has been created. But, counting the match on the last day of the 2002-03 season, the two clubs have played some pretty important games over the last couple of years.

Edited to say: I guess 6 covered most of this as I was typing.
