I've seen a regular dream team or all star list of one team...now lets create two teams. One team will consist of South American greats and the other of European greats....

I'll hold off on mine...once we get some going I'll post...

Clarify the conditions.

Of all time, current player...

You're right....
let's make it easier for most and say current day...

South America wins.

End of discussion.

Put it this way... you can even take the entire Brazilian national team vs Euro All-stars, and Brazil (a single S. American nation) would still win.

------------------ Buffon

G. Neville - Ferdinand - Nesta - Del Horno

--- Ronaldo - Gattuso - Nedved - Vicente

------- Van Nistelrooy - Shevchenko

Obviously there are lots of players who could merit a place in the side, but I feel this side includes most of the strongest candidates for their position. No doubt others will include a variety of Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd players. Perhaps the likes of Zambrotta, Puyol, Gerrard, Ballack, Totti, etc.

very nice...I like Gattuso as the holding midfielder...although R.Keane is definately a stron candidate.

Seriously, if Neville is the best that Europe can offer on the right hand side, let's not even bother with a discussion.

I think he's done well for England and despite much criticism is probably their best option, but he's not world-class and Europe should be able to start 11 world-class players.

Any suggestions then? I am not a great fan of Ferreira and there isn't that many other options kicking about. I usually picked Puyol in previous years, but he has now settled into a central defensive role.

To be honest I don't know too well - I'm just hoping they could offer something better. Thuram could certainly do better defensively but I doubt he has the legs to play that wide role today, especially since he was converted to a central role long ago.

Sagnol ... well, maybe.

I'll look into other nationalities. Puyol would've been my choice too even considering today he may play centrally. I'd also put Ferreira and Finnan ahead of Neville.

Dida/Abbondanzieri
*****Lucio Ayala Samuel

Zanetti Cambiasso R.Carlos

Ronaldinho Riquelme

Tevez

Ronaldo

I’m really conflicted about the goalkeeper.

Dida- his size and ability to extend.
Pato- his reflexes and his ability/vision to start an attack

In the defense I stuck with Samuel even though this is by far his worst season. Heinze would be my second choice here.

Ayala...I shouldn't need to explain myself. It's a shame he's had bad luck with injuries.

With Riquelme, I am super bias....but I included him because of the great season in Villareal this year...you can see from the last game that they rely on him 100%.

Zanetti/Cafu - I settled this one by playing Zanetti in the midfield as he does with the Argentine NT. Since I don't prefer a back four, I can get away with this.

Cambiasso at holding midflieder. I really like Cuchu b/c I think he can create as well as defend. Mascherano was my other choice and again, it's a hard call but I think Cambiasso has more creativity and attack (although, did you see MAscherano's goal).

I moved R.Carlos to a left midfield position...I think he can handle that role...the guy is rarely in the back anyhow. lol

Ronaldinho - no explanation.

Tevez - could have put in Crespo/Adriano but I think Tevez adds something different. Adriano/Crespo are too similiar to Ronaldo (though they don't approach his level--god it pains me to say that)...

Ronaldo- the best current S.American striker---(need to take some Tums)...

Abbondanzieri?

that would be almost as bad as neville being the best right back europe can offer

I like this team Asta, best i've seen yet....

As for Europe Finnan would make the team ahead of Neville no doubt, good attacking and brilliant defensively....

S. America would win...

I don't think you can predict who's going to win this match, both teams have XI top class players, not much difference between them.
