Yes they way we have fallen down the ladder not only in the FIFA rankings
but in CONCACAF as well we should have to qualify, we don;t deserve a
automatic berth.

NO
gold cup champions should be Invitated by their own achievements!
USA - Mex and Canada should be grp leaders before the draw for gprs

They should, but it's hard to fit them in with Central American or the Caribbean.

We should, but only if EVERY team has to qualify (save the invited teams). Teams should not get in on past laurels, no matter how great (USA, Mexico)

Put them in the UNCAF championship, but force UNCAF to have Caribbean referees in Canada's games.

first off we are not the gold cup champions at present. we didn't get out
of our group last time. England have won the world cup, so should they get a automatic spot in the next world cup based on past achievements? I don't think so. The group leaders should be the US, Mexico, and one of the invited
teams.

.... The group leaders should be the US, Mexico, and one of the invited
teams.
No way, the third group leader has to be either CAN, CR or HON...not an invited team

Totally agree.
Now that i think it twice, i think CAN should be seeded always, in an "all-nice utopic" life every team, including US and MEX should qualify for the GC, but in our real life, there is no need to have CAN qualifying against CA or Caribbean teams, we dont have enough quality teams for the gold cup, we need US, MEX, CAN, CR, HON, GUA, T&T and JAM in every tournament

I agree, Canada, United States, and Mexico should all have to qualify. Even though none of teams would ever not qualify, it's worth it to go for the exercise. Of course, that's only really possible if we go to a four year cycle.

I tell you now that if Canada had to qualify with the current squad and manager, we couldn't do it. We struggled with Costa Rica,Guatemala,
and Honduras, heck we were pathetic. And having to qualify. it would
give Canada more meaningful games during the year instead of being
idle.

Wrong.
Canada would not be qualifying against the likes of Guatemala, Costa Rica or Honduras. It'd be more like the WCQ first round, where we'd play a country like Belize and a couple of others. We'd get one decent quality team at most, as there are 12 spots in the GC.

Having a first qualifying round for the GC in the same way that it is for the WC is a good idea.

I would suggest one of the following (note CONCACAF has 40 teams, 10 in the North & Central Zones, 30 in the Caribbean):
1. Zonal Qualifying - 8 groups of 5 (2 N/C, 6 Carib.), top 3 in the 2 N/C groups and winners of the Carib. groups qualify to 12 team Gold Cup. If expanded to 16 teams, then the 6 2nd place Caribbean teams and 4th place N/C teams go into playoffs.
1a. Zonal Qualifying with preliminaries - If it is felt that some nations are too poor for proper qualifying, have the Caribbean teams play a 2 game elimination series. The 10 winners form 3 groups of 5, top 2 advance.
2. Combined Qualifying - 8 groups of 5 without regard to zone. For a 12 team Gold Cup, winners advance, 2nd place teams enter playoff. For a 16 team tournament, top 2 advance.
2a. Combined Qualifying with preliminaries - Eliminate whatever number of teams are felt necessary (the fewer the better) and then have the rest enter the group stage. The big teams should not play the preliminary stage.
Note I make no provision for guests. I don't see why we need them.
This is also virtually impossible without having the GC in the same year as the Euros. That's no accident either.

You're right on one point, Canada should be playing in the wcq from the first
round.playing the country like Belize. Remember we didn't exactly fill the nets
against those guys, we only got 8 over two legs, Mexico would have got that
in a half. We have Costa Rica, the USA and CUBA in our gold cup group, it's alrady over for us and the tournament is still 4 months away.

Giving us Canadians 5 points seems a little optimistic. we would get points off Belize but thats about all.
