Curious to know...
I went to college in DC starting in '96 at American, and got into United. Blame it on SE, LN and BB, I sat over with you guys with no clue what would happen. :D
Was in DC during winter for New Year's, lived in Clevland Park and went to Park Bench (side bar, never downstairs) where my GF and I spend many nights (as I worked at the Uno's which I see no longer exsists).
Anyway, I live in Atlanta now, and go to a bar named The BrewHouse in L5P. Guy who owns the place is a huge Arsenal fan, so soccer is always on. I live in the neighborhood, so its me and GF's new local place (like Park Bench).
I see many ATL people here which DC in their ava side bars and makes sense, closest (and best) team in the league. I 'm not sure if there are DC ex-pats, one guy comes in now and then, from N.VA, has great knowledge of the game. Me? I have my DC flag over my corner seat and swear too much at the TV.
If you are a DC United fan and live in the area, I've been watching there. I won't go in Buckhead to Fido... well because its Buckhead. I thought it might be nice too roll deep for once, so if anyone usually sits at home for the games, and wants to swing by, we'll be there 3 PM on 4/2

i'm a united fan attending the university of georgia in athens.i'm from south georgia originally. no real connection to the team other than the fact that they were the first team i really started to follow seriously in the league (around 2002), due to the fact that they were geographically close and i liked the players... guys like moreno, pope, and ben olsen.

I've been to a few Backs games here and there... I do want to get a set of tickets for the new field, looked great going past the Junction, almost got into an accident looking at it heading North to see my folks for the holidays...
Well like I mentioned, I watch DC at the BrewHouse in L5P. Where do you guys watch? Getting a group of us together to be "DC South" and watch the games would be a fun time.

LOL... not him specifically... only reason I know he is an Arsenal fan is I asked one afternoon, "What with all the Arsenal stuff."
The rundown is (as you probably know) the Brits get the TV's for the Premiership Sat. AM... but at the "right bar", I sit at the "left bar".
Typically Shawn, Gary, Sharon or Matt will make the switch on the "left bar" TV when they see me geared in DC stuff.
If there was a group, we might get the "stone" TV, but the big screen... I don't know... It was used for DC-NE, and there were a few people cheering for DC... kinda sweet.

Twas a joke, yes. :p
I'm there for most Arsenal matches. I've never been there for an MLS match but I wouldn't suspect you'd really have a conflict that often since those matches are late in the afternoon whereas Prem matches are done by 1pm at the latest.....assuming it's even a time when the two seasons are overlapping (April-May and then September to late October).
Maybe I'll start joining you folks for DCU matches there. I lived in D.C. for two years (prior to MLS) and still have relatives in Maryland so I've kind of gravitated toward United as far as MLS is concerned.

I support DC and live in Atlanta also. I moved here from Maryland a year and a half ago. I usually watch DC matches at home, but I'll probably join you at Brewhouse for the games that are nationally televised. I've been there a few times, but never really met anybody.

I know you were joking... we MLSers arew a bit "sensitive" abot watching "soccer", especially in the "most horrible sports city in the entire universe" Atlanta. But if it does stike you, we always could use another person watching. I get a little self-concious when I'm the only one screaming at the TV.

Sweet. Like I said above, the more the merrier, that's why I started the thread. I figured there had to be a few DC-NVA-MD Ex-pats here who watched DC United. Why sit at home when there are others too right :)

Great. I shall don my United kit (purchased two years ago before Adu-a-mania) and catch their matches at the Brewhouse.

It's great to see a group forming. I wish I had found other DCU fans when I lived in Atlanta.

Another thought: You might want to keep something going on the "DC Supporters Clubs" section of the DC United board.
I don't make it to Atlanta often enough, but if I were there during a DC United match, it would be cool to check it out and consume cold beverages with the local fans. I think its safe to assume that other DC-metropolitan-area fans would too.

I've heard that. I should take a look... and glad to see another person wanting to swing by and watch DC United :)

NattyBo: Indeed we are :)
neilgrossman: The reason I started this thread. For people in ATL, the closest team is DC United, after Mutiny folded (8 hrs). DC is 10-12 hrs , with Kansas City next... (14-16 hrs). Its an easy flight and in ATL's East Coast wheelhouse... a more natural fit. I figured if people we interested we could scratch a few people together.
Winoman: Might be a good idea. I figured to start here before going into the Supports Club... Figured ATL fans who do not know the local DC supporters groups would have an easier time finidng a thread here first. I guess Knave could give a forward or what have you for this thread.

Atlanta being a natural hub for Delta now has non-stops flying into Dulles for dirt cheap. If you guys ever get a group together for a game at RFK, post here and we'll see how we can help you out in getting around.
