I like Rooney. I am a big England supporter and there is no question the kid is star and will be for a decade.

That being said. He behavior on the pitch seems to be getting worse. Watching him out there against Milan, it seemed like every word out of his mouth was "************ You" right at the ref. Besides the fact that this can't help you get calls from an official who you've spend 88 minutes cursing, it just seems unprofessional and petty.

A healthy protest is something, but like when Keane complains he seems to be making a point about the call made, not just blindly swearing at the official.

I'm sure Henry swears at the ref too, I just can't lip read in French.

I wish he would shut up sometimes and just play but he will learn in due time how to finesse the refs. He could always try to stand next to the ref and call the game for the way vieira does.

I mentioned that in my game analysis reply. He's just a kid, but someone needs to tell him to shut his piehole sometimes. It's just annoying now, but it'll really be a problem when it gets him sent off late in an important match. I guess I'm just from the school where we were taught that if you have a beef with the referee, you tell the captain and he'll deal with it. A player doesn't do himself any favors by questioning the ref openly. I think he'll learn, though I'd like it to be sooner rather than later.

Rich, spoiled, whiney bitch.

I don't think he will really be a great player in the years to come. Other things will distract him. He doesn't have the attitude or the heart to be a true 'professional'.

actually, i think he's starting show a bit more restraint than he used to. he almost slammed the ball down on wed. but pulled back, and while he did berrate the ref, i didnt see him stand there and spot a profanity essay like he did against arsenal. it is embarassing, and it probably will take a late sending off in a big match to shut him up, but he'll learn, esp w/ kean slapping him into reality.
and besides, that ref blew nuts. made some really good calls, but definately made up for them as well. that deflection from rooney's shot that was ruled a goalkick... wft???
that along with milan's incredible defense, who read everything we did like a book, frustrated the little hothead. he wasnt yelling at the ref more than i was.

I think his temper is absolutely entertaining. The kid cracks me up. With that said, I'm sure it can't be good for the team. Yes, he has a temper, but to say he won't be a great player and he has no heart? Where do you think the anger comes from? Rooney has tremendous passion and heart. He just hasn't learned to express it properly. Maybe it will take him getting sent off in a big match or maybe Sir Alex will have to get him into some zen buddhism - somehow Rooney will learn. And he will be a great player ........if that can't be said already.

I think ever since the England Spain match when Sven pulled him he's been a little calmer with the exception of the first half of the Arse match. But if you notice he was completely different in the second half of that 1 and he was calm for him in the Milan match. He's still young and has some way to go but he is showing some improvement. As for the post that he won't be a great player in the future I'm curious who you think will be better and how many times you've actually watched him play?

His temper is out of control at times, against Arsenal he is lucky he did not get sent off. But how old is this young man again? He is not even 20. Everyone here, and our younger members to, maybe you can see how hotheaded we all can get. But as we got older, fighting and abuse against others usually quit? His game is getting better, and in time his attitude will improve, and for that he'll become even greater.

I thought it was is funny how hard he protested about getting a throw in mid way through the first half against milan. Oh and he will be a great, sure to be in the world cup winning england team in the not to distant future
