Le Guen isnt some boy genius. He failed at Rennes because he didnt have good players. He succeeded at Lyon because he had good players.
He didn't have the means, he didn't have enough time and support either. This said, he did not completely failed since he showed Rennes could actually fight for European spots. This team needing to realise that aiming high isn't inappropriate despite an empty shelves complex.

Sorry, I just came back from the cathedral...I had someone to thank. :D
I'm strangely not surprised, except by the 4 goals. This team remains a mystery though...Everyone knows there is potential but noone yet found the user manual apparently. Anyway, since confidence seems to be one of the main parameter, needless to say that this game may be a big boost. And once again, it's good for the visibility of the club.
And I wasn't there because of some strange problem with the puter. Two or three headbutts and here I am !
Waiting for milder temps and I shall go to the Stade de la Route de Lorient before the end of the season, quand même...

Et si on découvrait un autre monde ?
Si on découvrait un passage ?
Si on pouvait être au même endroit, la même personne, mais que tout le reste soit différent ?
Et si Rennes savait jouer au foot ?

Unfortunately, "Sliders" doesn't exist anymore, but I'd suggest this game as a story for the show. Of course, no one would believe it. Too uncanny, even for sci-fi.

On the European football show in German TV they said Alexander Frei will miss the World Cup due to his groin injury. Any news on this topic, maybe online sources? Thx

I believe he is injured and had an operation on his groin, but has said that he will make the World Cup. The injury will keep him out till the end of the season in May. I guess it all depends on fast he can recuperate.
He has stated that he will be ready for the World Cup and that the operation was undertaken so he could be fit for Germany.

The team's resuregence has coincided with the return of Olivier Sorlin. If Frei did what he did last year then this team would have been a challenger for the title. Also Utaka is only now starting to get rolling which also hurt them.

The team's resuregence has coincided with the return of Olivier Sorlin.
The president of the SRFC - Emmanuel Cueff - told this yesterday in an interview for Europe1 radia ; he was delighted with the return of Sorlin at Rennes. Sometimes, you need one ingredient to stabilise the compound. Let's see if it continues to be positive.

The Frei and Utaka partnership under acheived this year and its a shame its over now since Frei is done for the year. Coming into this season I thought that would be the top striking duo in Ligue 1 this year.

I feel really sorry for you all, who follow the Rennes results. Especially Nanbawan, who is a good person, and probably doesn't deserve the shame he will experience during the game. You know how it is, soccer is a competition, we can't afford to let a lesser team win, even a cute and harmless one like Rennes.
Strasbourg's overall season plan*, so far, is working perfectly :
1) make everyone believe we are a worthless bunch of crappy morons (outstanding success at this point).
2) beat unexpecting opposition in the last few games, including UEFA cup.
3) make history.
So, Nanbawan, I feel sorry for you, but Rennes is standing in our way. We'll try not to inflict a defeat too severe. 3-0 should be enough.

* You may notice a few similarities with the White House plans to settle democracy in Irak (up to point 1, in fact).

See ? I told you : no one can play that bad, except on purpose. Hosni, in the team, plays as a "goal giver". Very difficult position. When the opposite team can't find the net, Hosni enters the field and offers a pass to the other's team strikers. He receives a lot of training to do this : two minutes on the pitch and (kazaaam !) assist for the opposite team.
I wonder if wrong-way-assists count in the stats. If they count, we should have some of the best passers in the league.
Next step : Strasbourg will sign an exchange contract with Chivas USA, and probably with the Chicago Cubs as well.
