Have you seen that !!! ? Incredible cup tie against Montpellier in the Coupe de France. 1-1 after 11 minutes and to the end of the regular time. And then, then 5-3 ! Not penalties ! 5-3 in the prolongation periods, yes 6 goals within 30 minutes !

The Rennes defense has been exposed althrough the match, you could feel the physical, mental and will erosion for Les Rouges et Noirs whereas Montpellier were really going for it, a very spirited challenge from them. Maybe Rennes will renew with the 'tradition' of buying some players from this side BTW, like the bullish Colombo...Fortunately, during extra-time, sporadically, the SRFC found some of its skill and should have killed the game on many occasions. Anyway, from a show perspective, that was delightful. Eurosport British commentators were lost for words and the public was ecstatic, not bothering too much about conceding three. I really thought Les Heraultais were going to be our cup ties Nemesis once again after kicking the Breton side early in the League cup this season.

If you haven't seen the game -but read this- watch the first 15 minutes, have your meal and come back for the extra time ! :D

I'll remember this match the next time I hear somebody say the "Golden Gol" was a good idea. :D

You forgot to mention that our best DF so far, Mensah, was injured and should be out for at least a month, and that Faty, who came in to substitute him was also injured when touching his first ball, and should be out for 6 month.

I hope it was worth it, and that Rennes won't stop in the semis, cause the end of the season is seriously compromised now :( . Boloni will have to compose his central defense with Bourillon - M'Bia - Ouaddou (the clown) - Adailton ...

Oh yeah ! Before extra-time that was plain terrible, during extra-time the defending remained so...Like you said, it might be a pyrrhic victory...

We play at the Velodrome. Hmm, beware of the orange juice ! :D

Bah, what do you want me to say...We 'lost' one point. I wonder how the team will cope with the next busy and important days. the CL is still reachable, so let's dream as long as it is.

Rennes: Will Frei leave, Kallström too? (11/05)
"I want to go to Dortmund. Now, it is to the leaders of Rennes to find an agreement." Alexander Frei could not be clearer. The Swiss attacker of the Stage Of Rennes definitively confirmed Wednesday its intentions starting at the end of the season. And he wants that the business is regulated quickly with the German club: "I would like that my contract with Dortmund is signed before the beginning of the World cup" it added. Frei has thus nothing any more but one match to dispute under the Breton colors, Saturday vis-a-vis in Lille. Another mondialist of Rennes who could leave the "Red and Black" this summer, Kim Kallström as for him preferred to wait before making public his future aspirations. "I will not speak before the end about the championship", declared international Swedish, still under contract for two seasons. Courted by English clubs (Tottenham, West Ham), Kallström certainly will decide on its future according to the final place of Rennes in championship and the force of persuasion of its leaders... Im not sure why Frei is so eager and intent on joining Dortmund I mean the last time I checked they arent gonna be playing in the Champions League or Uefa Cup or anything. You guys must do all that you can to hold on to Kallstrom. Hopefully the fellow Swedes Isaksson and Edman can convince him to stay.

Frei is acting like a fool.

Is it because he speaks German better than he speaks French?

Possibly. I just dont see how Dortmund is an attractive option. They are in 7th place and they are gonna sell their best player(Tomas Rosicky). I dont think Marseille or PSG made an offer for him. Rennes did win 8 games in a row without him so its clear that Kallstrom is much more important to the team than Frei is.

I dunno, but it's true there has been rumors about him going to Germany for quite a long time. Maybe, he feels he would fit better in the Bundesliga. Leaving Brittany for the Ruhr, yeah, what a fool ! :p

No more Alexander Frei and no place in Europe next year. Sad end to the season for Stade Rennais.

Indeed, I feel a little p*ssed off BTW...

Anyway, let see the 'good' side, it's a golden opportunity to fire Laszlo otherwise we would have had to keep him and be humiliated in UEFA...Now, getting rid of him is fine, finding someone that could bring us a lil bit higher is of course better.

After you went up 2-0 you sat too far back. A poor cleareance headed out by one of your defenders is what cost you. Frei look great even though the announcers said he wasnt fully fit.
