why utaka not play ?
He had been slightly hurt against Lyon, I think Cris sliced a bit of his ankle. Nothing really important but since he has had stiches, it would have been difficult if not unnecessarily risky for him to play too soon.
I wonder if wrong-way-assists count in the stats.
Yes, thanks, always a pleasure to host people with a great sense of savoir-vivre. Is Madame de Rotschild from Alsace ? :p
Quite paradoxical what happened in this game : Rennes, on the whole played better and deserved a positive result, I was really impressed by the calm and the quality of their recuperation and defense recovery althrough the match. But the SRFC had to take advantage of two clear errors by Strasbourd to actually score whereas the white storks put in a very decent goal taking advantage of a little impromptu nap by the Stade defense on a corner 10 minutes from time.
I also noticed Strasbourg seem to be a very sensitive side psychologically speaking ; after the second goal, you felt that if it wasn't for the presence of the public, they might have committed a collective suicide on the pitch. And, as it is often the case with bipolarity, they found a second life after scoring. Nothing new, but the contrast was very obvious.
Little anecdote : I was at the game and on the way back, I had an accidental shoulder check with frowned Strasbourg general manager Marc Keller as he was exiting the stadium...I'm not exactly tiny but I felt it ! :D

Time for a lil Celtic (http://www.dailymotion.com/cymru/video/19046) pause. Ok, Carlos Nuñez is from Galice but the end sounds typically Breton.

Good thing he didn't steal your wallet. Keller Kid would sell his own father to a venezuelian 4th division team for a bit of cash. He will quit the club by the end of the season (le bateau coule....). He is expected in Sochaux.

On the Tottenhamn Hotspur board they are saying that the Korean they got to replace Edman is crap. I have no idea if Edman is playing well for Rennes but it seems like Edman is the better player and Rennes got a steal.

Great news. Le Guen is made for northern soccer. I can already see him under the cold rain, standing near the bench like a corsair captain boldly facing the thunder.
Le Guen in Spain, in Italy ? A true breton on the Mediterranean shores ? It was unthinkable.

win after win ..
What's really positive is that we ended the Frei-dependancy when it comes to scoring goals. The team as a whole is now able to score, that makes us less vulnerable.

I heard on Europe 1 that Rennes does hold a record now in Ligue 1 : the first ever team to enjoy a 5 games winning streak after having suffered 5 defeats in a row ! Yeah !

Thats assuming that none of the key players leave. The Frei-Utaka attack never got on track all year so why would you go with that again next year ?They need to some some offensive players too.

Spot on mate ! I hope we can keep this guy but it'll be hard since his talent hasn't gone unnoticed by many big French and European clubs notably Arsenal. Some even say that the new Zidane could in fact be a Breton ! Well, this phrase almost look a curse for the person who's been labelled as such...Let's hope it won't be the fact for promising Yohan Gourcuff.

Colmar : 1
Utaka : 4
Of course, this is a logical result, amateurs vs pros. BTW, you can only have admiration for Utaka : outstanding player and very nice guy. Who knows ? Maybe he needed the brittany rain in order to blossom ?

Spectacular...Maybe the crêpe, galette, peasan sausage, potato and cider diet does also help ! :)
