ok, please forgive the stupid question about to be posted.
Bought a Home Theater system this weekend, and got it all hooked and working real pretty, but I can't get the TV to work wiht the sound systen.
In other words, the system only works with CD's, DVD's and Radio. I have to turn the machine off and use my TV's normal volume and speaker when watching television.

The coaxil cable runs into the Digital box and then into an RF modulator which runs the coaxil into the tv and the RCA cable into the DVD/Home Theater system. I do know that there is an audio out on the back of the digital box and an "auxillary" audio in on the DVD system, I hooked this up but still got nothing.
Any suggestions?

Is it an all-in-one box with DVD/receiver/amp? What brand/model?

From the looks of it, I would go coax into cable box, then yellow/red/white rca's into your samsung Aux In 1 (page 11 in the manual - vertical connect). Next I would go rca video out (s-vid might work, too) to your tv's video in. Then, following page 18, I'd hit Aux on your remote until AUX 1 is active.

Do you need to set up the cable box audio out?

Personally, i wouldn't want to shuffle around the video signal this much, and you shouldn't have to. That's why i wonder if the cable box isn't the issue. Had you been using the audio out jack on the cable box before?

WHy are you using an rf modulator?

This is the correct answer. You should never need to change your TV's input settings after doing this.

If you can set it up this way, and you get video, but no audio, then there is some issue with your cable box.

So, to be extremely explicit...

from wall --(coax)--> cable box --(RCA)--> HTIB --(RCA)-->TV.

Well I have to pass through an RF Modulatior because my TV has only a Coaxil input no RCA inputs.

Time to get a good TV. :)

So, how do you watch DVDs now? Do you put the output from the HTIB thru a RFM, and the cable box output thru another? Or does the HTIB have a coax output? If so, if you run the cable box thru the HTIB it should end up on that same output.

I know it's a bit confusing and a new TV would solve all my problems but I have this thing with not gettign something new until the old one breaks.

OK, the cable coaxil) comes into the Digital cable box, the digital cable box (coaxil) goesinto the RF Modulator the RCA cables connect the RF to the HTIB and another coax patch goes into the coax input on TV.

I THOUGHT if I conenct the audio output on the back of the cable box to the input on the back of the HTIB and hit AUX on the remote (it is one of three choices, Tuner/DVD/Aux) I would be able to get my TV's audio through the HTIB but it doesn't seem to work. Perhaps I should try again, and if it still doesn't work I believe it could be the Digital Boxes audio output that is not working correctly.
Dunno,

OK, I get it - you are using the cable box's coax out.

Try disconnecting that - so the only thing going into the RF modulator is the output from the HTIB system. Then connect the RCA outputs of the cable box to the AUX input on the HTIB. That *should* work.

If you lived in my town I'd just come over and hook it up for you. It's not hard - but it's a real pain to try and explain.

If foos' suggestion doesn't work:

Your manual makes it look like you might have to hit the "AUX" button more than once to get to the analog aux input (pg 18).

I'd unplug the coax out from your cable box and see if you get sound, too (coax into cabe box, audio from cable box to samsung). See if the modulator isn't causing probs.

But sure you are on the right aux input - manual says there are four to cycle through.
