Does anyone else share my thoughts that this game could be the most important game of the season for us? An away win against a top half team would put our drive towards Europe right back in gear, but another defeat gives Liverpool the chance to practically close the gap.

I have to say that them winning last night was a fantastic result. They're not going to win the competition but if it means they have to play an extra 2 mentally and physically demanding games against some quality opposition, so much the better. Like us, they've been badly hit by injuries and suspensions.

Liverpool's next EPL game will be away at Newcastle, so even if we lose this Saturday, I'm not sure if the Red Shiite will be able to "close the gap" on us.

On the other hand, a win at Villa Park sure would be a good way to put some pressure on Liverpool since the gap between us would go back to 8 pts.

Bring on the Villans!

It's gonna be a tough one for us, for sure. Villa is a tough team and we're not exactly in top form. Personally, I don't think we're gonna pull it off. I know, I know... I say that every game. But really, with Beattie out, and Dunc, Ossie and McFaddy still fighting those nagging injuries, we're just not strong enough to do it.

Btw, I'm going to be highly upset if Naysmith starts another game.

even though i am a supporter of the Reds, i hope your side does well against Villa. i hate Birmingham worse than anything. it's the kits, really. claret and blue? sorry. i don't get it.

i won't be exactly gutted if the Toffees lose, mind. i know how frustrating it can be this side of CL qualifying. just keep the faith, my motto.

<It took me a while but I'm finally on 100 posts :D >

Its a ground we haven't won a league game at since 1987 (I think I read somewhere). This season we've beaten teams we would usually have lost against. I can see us winning tomorrow!!! An 8 point gap over the RS will make my day. Then again even a draw would do me. A 6 point gap would still be great!!!

Sounds like we'll have our first choice midfield back.

Kilbane, Cahill, Osman, Carsley and Arteta.

I'd like to see McFaddy get the start (if he's recovered from injury) instead of Kilbane.

Apparently both sides are tracking young Forest left winger/midfielder/full-back Kris Commons.

I turned the game on just in time to hear us take the lead. Cross came in from the left, Bent just missed, and Osman managed to get a slight touch to put it in near the far post.

1-0 Everton!

You got tv, kerpow? I've only got audio...

I've only been listening for a few minutes, but we really seem to be playing well. Cahill's presence has been crucial... chance after chance seems to come from his foot. Arteta is also making a difference. He set up a great chance for Bent just after the goal.

I hate to jinx it, but this sure feels like the Everton team from the first half of the season.

Ohhhh, Villa almost equalized from a free kick. Solano clipped the outside of the post.

No FSC tv for us today. How the F did we get bumped for the Brum v Crystal Palace match? Grrr.

Anyway, good match so far. Well done to Osman! (How 'bout a contract for the lad, Blue Bill??)

We're really taking it to Villa and Cahill has clearly gotten some rest and is totally up for this match!

COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!

Yeah, i'm listening. Solano's gonna be a threat all day. And I have a bad feeling with Angel and Barry...but Hibbert should be able to handle Barry.

Hibbert really has been one of our best players this year. And when he has a bad game, we sure feel it.

It's kinda calmed down some now... Do you guys think we can hang on to win this one? Will it be another famous 1-0?

HT 1-0 Everton

Villa very quiet, excellent half for us. I think we're making them look pretty dull. :D
