"The mission of MetroNation is simple: MetroNation is a fan club whose core function is to enhance and create 'home-field advantage' for the MetroStars and their fans. Our "Citizenship," consisting of and open to adults and youths of all backgrounds, looks forward to teaming up with our Section 101 counterparts, the Empire Supporters Club, and fulfilling its mission. Between the two fan clubs, we offer something for EVERY MetroStars enthusiast!"
--Marc P. Bernarducci
Chief Officer, MetroNation
Back in December 2004, before the holidays, a small group of passionate MetroStars fans met to discuss how they could take the concept of “home-field advantage” to another level. Consisting of all ages and backgrounds, the group tirelessly advanced this idea over the following 2 months, and is now known as MetroNation For the fans, by the fans . . .
Now, all MetroStars fans have yet another alternative to “Get in the Game!” as Citizens of MetroNation We continue to diligently plan pre-match, in-match, and post-match activities, including road trips and viewing parties for MetroStars enthusiasts throughout the Tri-State area. We are looking for new Citizens who want to actively participate and contribute their creative ideas!
MetroNation looks forward to its “inaugural” 2005 MetroStars season, which promises to be exciting, with two new expansion teams! MetroNation is already preparing to have a presence on April 2, when the MetroStars host Real Salt Lake, heralding the return of former MetroStars standouts, Clint Mathis and Eddie Pope.
You do not want to miss this, and what better way to really enjoy the atmosphere than with other passionate MetroStars fans like YOU?! Time is of the essence. Get your passport to a new type of home-field experience, and . . .
“Be a Good Citizen, and Get in the Game!”

So how much in royalties are you paying to Seal for that intro?
edit: Seriously, good luck. There should be enough room in cavernous GS for all of us.

More supporters can only be good for atmosphere but I would strongly recomend that MetroNation and ESC (despite having their own seperate viewpoints on what exactly a supporters club should be) attempt to foster a strong relationship with each other.
Also, if the Metronation newbie poster is in fact Marc Bernarducci and not some lackey posting on his behalf, i would encourage you to visit these boards and take part in some discussions here. I understand this new supporters club will be run by the fans not the FO, correct?
it also seems like ESC (101) and MetroNation (115) will be positioned a good distance from each other fopr better or worse.
http://metrostars.mlsnet.com/met/imgs/seatmap.gif
Perhaps some joint chants over that distance could encourage the spectators in the middle to join in as well. (probably this would be more vialbe in our new stadium when and if we get one due to the sound killing swamp pit that is Giants Stadium)
If you haven't already i would suggest reaching out to ESC organizers to find out what works and what doesn't work as far a recruiting, leading chants, putting on events, ect. as these guys have been at this for a while now and have not only learned from doing things here but aslo from other supportes groups across the league.
Overall good job thus far, welcome aboard and we will see you on match day.

Love the intro to the website. Love the website it's self.
I truly believe that all Metro Supporters should be unified in these supports groups. I felt it was a shame that La Doce section broke away from ESC and they were on the other side in 121. While I'm still happy that Metro Nation is born and they are starting to breath into their new supporting world, I believe that for Metro Nation to be in Section 115 is not the right section for them. If the president of Metro Nation reads this. I say talk to the head of the ESC, all hard core supporters, all our brothers & sisters come to section 101 and make a hugh banner wrapping around our end of the stadium. And it does say
"METRO NATION"
We all sing, we all chant, we all scream & yell, we all junp up & down in delight when the Metro win.
We are all Metro Nation.

Won't work. Otherwise they'd already be in 101 with the ESC. I'm sure Metronation is for the adults with families who want to be supportive without all the lewd comments amd chants that proliferate 101. I think 107 would be a good section. Not to close. Not to far. 1 metro voice.

Well that may be part of the equation but i wouldn't go grouping all of them into the "family-man" catagory. Fact is there are many fans that for various reason do not enjoy the way ESC does things,..and that is fine. If they are truely passionate for the club and are willing to communicate and work with ESC in some capasity it can only benefit the gameday atmosphere and experiance for all.
I wasn't knocking them. And they probably aren't all families. But I'd imagine the majority of single (or not) males in their 20's and 30's (40's?) would be hitting up the ESC in 101. Anyway, as long as both groups work together to grow their base support, it benefits all of us. But my guess is that the MetroNation is something like the ESC Lite that was being discussed at 1 point.

Well let me say that there is too much P.C. going around here in MLS as well as US Soccer. They have to understand that these groups who heavily support their clubs all over Europe & South America there they ones that sing and at the same time make all these fun loving chants that are ammusing, or not so ammusing. Why do you think the kids over there sing the same damn songs.
The parents have to understand, where ever you go. Hockey games, Baseball games, Football games, basketball games and at soccer games, there will be profanity spewing all over the place when something doesn't go right for the home team.
I have been thru all this going to Yankees games, Jets games, Rangers games. Occasionally profanity is going to fly out of someone's mouth. This is the dog show. These games are apart of our lives. It makes us who we are.
That's all I have to say.

I don't know if this is the "ESC lite" that a number of us talked about on here months ago but the more supporters the better. As we discussed ad infinitum last year there are many reasons why some folks don't want to join the ESc and that is not in any way a knock on the ESC. Personally I doubt this is purely a MFO operation. For starters the website is too good. however why Section 115? That to me makes no sense.
It should be iinteresting if othing else. now I just have to see if both kids want to join or just my daughter.

Hey, it's not like the MetroNation is trying toi squeeze the ESC out. They claim they want to work together. Nothing wrong with that. We know the ESC is not for everyone. If MetroNation is for them, so be it. Or www.firstrowidiots.com for that matter ...

Seal gets a free season ticket to MetroNation! He was so taken by this gesture, that he has agreed to play at halftime during the Home Opener . . . . . . . if you believe that, then maybe you believe the rumor that we are extension of the MetroStars Front Office . . . LOL
So how much in royalties are you paying to Seal for that intro?
edit: Seriously, good luck. There should be enough room in cavernous GS for all of us.

Your "voice of reason" is refreshing . . . If you would like to talk further, send me phone number via the MetroNation.net Web site.

Indeed, there are some ESC members who misperceive us. On the other hand, there are those that do not, and those that are indifferent.
Corey and I have met, and discussed collaborative opportunities between our groups this season. As far as my first post on this Web site, I have gainful employment that keeps me busier . . . We look forward to your visit in Giant's Stadium!

Your "voice or reason" is refreshing . . . Thanks!
Well ... I only have one post (which I find hard to believe) but I've been reading this site for over a year.
I wouldn't base the number of posts on whether or not he is from the MFO. Heck ... he might be an active member of this community but wanted to create a new user name for his fan club.
Just my $.02

There is more to us than just our Web site. Observe first, then judge. Either way, we both love soccer. This means you share something in common with a "loser," no? ;-) I am thick-skinned . . . LOL
Just saw the Web site.... wow.. at least you guys have a snazzy website.

Whether or not they're more closely affiliated with the FO than the ESC is, doesn't really matter to me. As far as I can tell, this isn't a pure MFO front, though the concern of DC fans for our welfare is touching (why ARE they so obsessed with us, anyway? First the multi-page thread on their side on the signing of Djorkaeff - do any of us give a rat's ass who DC signs, much less post about it here? - and now this). Good luck to MetroNation - the more fans, the better.
