I noticed lately that pop up windows are getting past the pop up blocker on Safari. I've heard similar stories from people who use Firefox on Windows. Anyone else notice this? It seems like they've developed a pop up technology with resistance to pop up blockers.
Seriously though, I don't hate advertisers who use pop ups as much as the idiots who respond to them, so they're worthwhile for advertisers.

Got a couple over the last couple days. Interestingly enough, Firefox seems to think it got them, but it didn't... they loaded.
It'll be a matter of days, I hope, before Firefox is updated to get these too.
I'm glad this thread was started.
I need help!
I keep getting these popups a actual new browser page (which reads ez-something?) which I believe is on autorun on my computer. Everytime I try closing one page, what seems like 5 more pop up in its place and before I know it my browser locks up.
This is happening on Firefox too.
I have used adaware 6.0, spybot, and CW Shredder. They seem to take care of the problem as long as I don't shut down the computer. When I do shut down and restart the same thing happens all over again.
This has been keeping me from Bigsoccer. :(
Any and all help will be very appreciated!

I've been using Avant browser for a while without ever getting a pop-up. I just went to the Appleinsider website and browsed inside for a few minutes and still no pop-ups. It also passed almost all tests (except the floating one) from this site. http://www.popuptest.com
You can give it a try (http://www.download.com/Avant-Browser/3000-2356_4-10365237.html?tag=lst-0-1) and make sure to go to the 'Tools' and check on 'Block Unwanted Pop-ups'.

I passed all those test Fleet, and it's an occassional ad on appleinsider. I believe they are on some sort of rotation. They don't up, they end up behind the main window, so I'd never know besides i drop my browser window all the time into my dock.
It's not often, but i did notice it the other day ;)

The spyware has written itself to Windows Recovery, which is a section that never really deletes. This is suppose to prevent you from damaging windows, but it also allows virus and spyware to reincarnate themselves after using a spyware cleaner/anti-virus. If you can find the name of the file, then boot your computer into safe mode and delete it then, to override the Windows Recovery.

This forum is talking about it: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=110823
Half of it's technical mumbo jumbo but right now, it's limited to a few sites and it only happens once in a while, it seems.
