Major League Soccer realizes it should be in Houston. Houston believes it should have an MLS team. Philosophically, all parties are in accord. But without an economically viable soccer-specific stadium, a solution remains elusive, and one isn't imminent.

"We'd really love a Texas darby," FC Dallas general manager Greg Elliott said.
For those uninitiated in soccer lingo, that's spelled d-e-r-b-y. It refers to a rabid local rivalry such as the one waged for decades by Arsenal and Tottenham in east London
That would be North London, pal.
And yes, a in state rivalry would be sweet.

We should also point out that the Chron today debuts a new full-page, weekly soccer section. It has the article linked above, a piece on LaVolpe, full standings and latest scores from the MFL, EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga, as well as the CONCACAF WCQ standings. It also has various news & notes type things. Amazing.
If you can, please send them an email or a letter.

Yes, it is really cool. The largest headline on the front of the sports page, reads Wanted: MLS stadium
Let the Chronicle know the move is appreciated. Good times indeed.

I about dropped my coffee this morning when I saw that headline about MLS!!!
For a second I thought I had entered the twilight zone or something. I'm for sure going to drop a line to the Chron and tell them how solid and respected Glenn Davis is. And how appreciated the upgrade in futbol coverage is for its been too long for soccer to not have a section like that for Clutch City's followers of the beautiful game.

Just figured some people here may find this piece in today's Chron interesting - talks a bit about Hispanic soccer marketing in Houston:
The tournament is sponsored in part by Houston's Univision Radio, which is promoting the competition heavily to Hispanic listeners.
...
A large television screen will be on the beach March 27 so people can watch a soccer game between the Mexican and U.S. national teams, Maceo said.
Soccer to kick off the fun: 4-weekend tournament on Isle is meant to tap into the Hispanic market (http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/metropolitan/3067851)
