--Looks like we can take two things from this...

1.) We made the right move dumping his ass...

2.) He was smarter then he looked:

I'll miss the times of Denton giving the home fans the finger after he ********s up.

From the Crew board it seems like he's a major headcase. I always thought he'd be a serviceable left-sided defender in MLS - very good crosser of the ball, not too slow. But with Namoff entrenched as the starter and Arena in now to back him up, the only reason we'd need Denton is so that we could resurrect the old ericdenton!ericdenton!ericdenton! chant...

The Crew fans seem to think he's a dick, but he was real cool to a couple of us at the Capital Soccer Ball after he was dealt in '02...

Anyone that the majority of Crew fans believe to be a "headcase" is, in fact, not so. Take whatever they say, the opposite is true.

Just my opinion.

No I think that was one of the guys in the Screaming Eagles ;)

When Denton was here I thought he was pretty good going forward but the whole idea of defending troubled him, which wasn't a terribly good career move for a guy playing in the back four. I thought he had improved considerably after he left DC.

The guy was slow and a horrible defender. He could swerve the ball like nobody's business though.

was it you???

:D

Remember, Eric Denton was supposed to be Jeff Agoos' replacement, both for DC and the US team. I thought he did ok until we traded him, then his game became crap.

Eric Denton scored one of the great goals of the "Dark Ages" (2000-2003). A mazy solo run capped off by a swerving missile that beat Joe Cannon and flew into the upper left corner.

I always liked him, but parts of him game were frightening. He came to the Capital Soccer Ball in 2001, shortly after he was traded to Tampa Bay. I approached him to say that I was sorry to see him go. He replied in a classic deadpan "I'm sure you were".

He is a funny bastard.

Quite true. That was a beautiful goal.
