Some are saying Makelele, and I would have to agree with them.

Maka. Look what happened to Madrid.

Diouf might be an idiot, but he has been playing great for Bolton now that he finally gets to play up front. He's a one man front line and does it well. Houllier might still be in Liverpool if he would have dropped Heskey for Diouf or Baros.

Diop is also underated. If Diop can pass the ball better he would be in the top 5-10 midfielders in England. He can shoot from 35yrd+ and score He can score on set pieces etc.Duncan Ferguson is also underated. Duncan has scored some big goals for Everton and has set up some big goals.

I wouldn't say Makelele is underated simply because he has played for Real and has earned the reputation of being one of the best DM in the world. His hard work isn't exactly going unnoticed.

I thought Bellamy's contribution to Newcastle United was slightly underappreciated. His blistering pace caused problems for every defense.

John Arne Riise is another player who I feel doesn't get the recognition he deserves. Because he has spent so much time at LB his play hasn't made the headlines. But during spells in which he has played LM he has played fantastically. Overall he has been a solid contributor to our club this season.

Makelele is very underated in my opinion so i'll go with him.

How can you have a poll for under-rated players ? Surely the most underated player is the one that gets the least recognition for the work he does, and the winner of this poll will get the most recognition, and therefore NOT be the most under-rated :D

So therefore Dunne doesn't get my vote

It's Jamie Carragher, by virtue of not being on this poll and by virtue of it being true.

I agree with that. But he is slow. :(

He is having a good season, as he did a couple of years ago, but yeah he turns like a super-tanker...

And he is amongst the least technically able players ever to set foot on a Premiership pitch (and that includes mascots, referees and ballboys).

He is having a great season though.

Thanks, all of you, for proving my point so emphatically. I didn't really need the help, what with being right and all that, but it's heartwarming, nonetheless. Such a spirit of community bodes well for this place.

He's not the most underrated, he's the biggest underperformer.

Given what I'd seen of him for Scotland and all the hype, I was worried when he played against us, but he did absolutely nothing, and got an early substitution I think.

Makelele is not underrated. This is a myth. "Makelele joined Chelsea from Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee, around £16.6million, on transfer deadline day in September 2003." (Quote ESPNSoccernet)

Underrated would be Tony Hibbert or Damian Francis.

Marcus Bent. I remember when he got signed for peanuts from Leicester no-one thought he would produce anything. I even remember that fool Radzinski slating him and saying that it was a sign that Everton were not going to achieve anything :D

Richard Dunne has played well this season, looks a different player, in the past he always seemed fat and slow.

Cunningham of Birmingham is a very solid player. Carragher as already mentioned is even more so.
