To learn about a new streaming software to watch LIVE English Premiership matches free (as well as La Liga, Serie A, Champions' League, Bundesliga), check out this thread:
http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=167180
This is a test-mode only software, and may go away at any time. But take advantage of it while it lasts. Also for this software, more the number of people that are simaltaneously connected for a match, quality of streaming is better. Enjoy!

Yes, let's all download .exe files onto our computer because some punter on a message board says you can watch dozens of high-quality football streams for free if you do.
Or alternatively, just take your computer and throw it out of a first-floor window. Preferably into some form of pond, lake or other deep, watery space.

software is legit.
works kinda like bittorrent in that if you wish to watch a stream you must share your bandwidth in a pool. you better have a good connection to keep a steady stream though (>1mb or more).

I have a good connection speed. But i dont want any ********witt messing with my PC. So i'm never ever ever gunna download anything from this site again man. Simple as that. Even if it was giving away Paris Hilton video's. I'd still wouldnt do it. Only just mind. pffffffffffft. Taxi for me.

The software could well be legit. I was merely pointing out that to simply assume it is because someone makes the happy and attractive claim that it will allow us a significant benefit like, for instance, watching all manner of football for free, is not necessarily the wisest thing.
If it's legit - cool. I shan't bother with it because I already get to watch more or less everything I want to watch, but I'm certain it has all sorts of attractions for those of you landlocked in some footballing desert.

caution is a must of course...personally been running this for a couple of weeks and did all the neccesary anti-whatever scans and nothing dodgy came up.
seems to me just another form of p2p. instead of sharing music you share bandwidth to carry video streams. the worry isnt if its legit its how long it will last, espn cant be pleased its broacasts are being relayed everywhere.

Look mate, if you don't want to take advantage of it (and it sounds like you don't need to), fine. I'm not forcing anyone to check it out at gunpoint, (neither can I do it, anyway ;) ).
Here is some background info behind the technology:
http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~jcliu/Papers/CoolStreaming.pdf
The bigger issue at this point is not saftey from viruses. Rather, it is legal issues, and how long the author Xinyan Zhang can keep it in this testing mode, without lawyers knocking on his door.
I did background check on the EXE, and nothing suspicious has turned up. I thoroughly cleaned up my machine before and after installing with multiple cleaners, and nothing different turned up before/after. Just to be sure, I had installed it on a crappy machine which I could have afforded to trash, run it for more than 24 hours. Not a single sign of problem with the machine. So, there you have it.
Another caveat is: The software won't work across a firewall without opening up specific network ports. If you're at a place of work during telecast hours, it would be next to impossible that a network admin would honor such a request. This becomes more of an issue for Champions' League than Premiership for those of us in North America. (Except some of the Premiership weeknight matches are during workday hours in North America).
If you don't have the firewall issue (luckily I don't), enjoy the software as long as it lasts in its current state. And last but not the least, if you take advantage of this cool software (pun intended), be sure to give positive reputation! :)

Hmm. I installed CoolStreaming this weekend after seeing it on maxxed forums. It ran fine for that day, but the next my PC shut down twice without any prompting and the keyboard stopped working. The reason given by Windows was 'preventing unauthorized access to files'. I ran Spybot and found TVMedia, a bot which had been installed along with the software, but could only be uninstalled from the add/remove programs list. I did so and unistalled CoolStreaming along with it. Now everything runs as it did, or at least it has been up till now. Needless to say, I don't recommend CoolStreaming, its rubbish and endangers your computer.

Sparta, where did you install your version from? (I'm not asking about Maxxed forum, rather the exact link itself.)
I got mine straight from the source (the author himself - Xinyan Zhang).
http://personal.ie.cuhk.edu.hk/~xyzhang2/Cool_42_exp.exe
It's been running non-stop for 4 days on multiple machines, and I haven't had a single issue. For the last 24 hours, it has been running on 4 machines concurrently.

This covers ESPN Asia and Star Sports for the Premiership.
I know nothing about the schedules for CCTV-5, Guangdong Sports, and Shanghai Sports. Just tune into them on Saturday/Sunday morning/afternoon hours in North America. Serie A, La Liga and Deutsche Bundesliga matches involving top teams in those leagues are shown live at those times.
I believe live kickoff times for Champions' League matches are well known for all matchdays.

I installed it from a university website, I forget which. I'll see if I can find it. But I would check for this TVMedia business in your program list, if I were you, because I'm almost sure thats where the problem originated.

I see no trace of any TVMedia on any of the 4 machines where I've been running it. (Going strong on its 5th day today.) I could be something unrelated you caught (or a bad version). Thousands are using it on Maxxed forum, and nobody has said anything about TVMedia.

Been having trouble with the program as of late. Noticed the problem same time I noticed that some of the channels had been remove. The player will play for about 6 seconds then hit some major lag. Anyone else been having trouble? Any ideas on how to get the best possible stream?
