Im talkin about Paolo Guerrero. He scored once again today in the 2-0 victory and that bring his goal tallie up to 6 on the season with 5 of the goals being scored as a substitute. Many clubs already looking at him but Bayern say it is a priority to keep him.
Maybe he should start next year, or maybe he will continue to save Bayern coming off the bench next season. What do you guys think?

Guerrero has to stay in Munich as a long-term replacement to Makaay.Makaay will retire soon enough and he will be a giant loss to the team, but i think if we nuture Jose correctly then he will be able to fill the gap left behind by Makaay.

I believe Guerrero is really giving Magath a headache. it seams everytime he plays he does wonderful things. Magath realizes that he has 3 proven strikers in Roy, Claudio and Rogue but you can't stop playing him. He has opened the fans eyes and soon people are going to say why isnt Guerrero playing. In another thread people were discussing who is going to leave Bayern, well soon we will have to start concidering one of the other 3 strikers because I dont see Guerrero slowing down too much.

I don't think we can talk about Santa Cruz anymore. I'm hoping that with Podolski coming in next season Bayern will have 4 great strikers and one of the great offenses in the world. Of course ,the possibility that JPG will be loaned out can't be counted out yet. If Bayern really want him as Makaay's long term replacement he will need to play some full games and if he does stay and Podolski indeed comes to Munchen it will be hard for JPG to develop.

I thought the Podolski thing was pure speculation??? Has something changed??

What would be ideal is if we could play with three forwards, but with the glut of talented midfielders on the team, I don't see that happening. It would be an interesting proposition wouldn't it?? I could see Makaay (being the older, more experienced player) playing in behind the two.... or.... Makaay playing the offside line and Pizarro and JPG terrorizing the wings. [Have a three man middle of Frings-Ballack-Hargreaves -- all strong defensive ballwinners]

Guerrero is a true talent and Munich will hold onto him for as long as possible. I think Santa Cruz and Hashemian are as good as gone, personally. Between the three left, they will split time next season. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Guerrero and Pizarro together sometime.

This preposition sounds really good but would 3 strikers cut it? What if one or even two are injured at a time. That and Zickler, Santa Cruz and Hashemian being pretty much gone, aren't options anymore. Look at teams like Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U...all have 4 solid and dependable strikers. I think Bayern should go after Podolski, that man is a bigger talent than JPG. It was a speculation at first, but I remember some articles last half of the season on Podolski's future and Bayern being a possible option.

I don't think Guerrero is good enough to fill Makaay's shoes. Guerrero is a solid #2 scoring option, at best. Please be gentle with me.

Don't worry, you're right. This is the case with many young talented strikers, Rooney being just one example. In his first year everyone compared him to Shearer when he's not even close, not yet at least. Same with JPG, there is no telling that this guy is worthy of Makaay, but who knows maybe he will be. But for now, we have to relax and let everything come natural, can't preasure talent.

is makaay better than/comparable to elber? :DDifferent players. I know there's the perpetual pissing contest on the English boards about RvN vs. Henry, but it's as usless a debate as Elber vs. Makaay. Makaay doesn't do much for the team, well excpet for score goals which he does nicely. Elber didn't score as much, but worked a heck of a lot to also put other players in scoring position. Elber fit Bayern perfectly if you accept that grinding out a 1:0 win is an acceptable strategy.

Well,i wasn't saying Guerrero was good enough to fill Makaays shoes just yet,but i think in maybe 3-4 years time he will be almost as good,as for Elber vs Makaay i personally prefer Makaay, yes Elber worked more for the team but Makaay is a better goalscorer, especially in the champions league.

I agree, I would choose Makaay over Elber. Roy is just so damn efficient in his finishing. THe guy is so skilled and a natural goal scorer. He can score out of any situation and any position on the pitch. I just wish Bayern would have picked him up right after Elber left.

Its a tough situation come off-season. I think they should ship out Roque and see if there are any serious offers for Pizzaro and/or Guerrero. Both of these guys have
"Big name" status and will bring in $$$$$$$
