View Full Version : Soccer lines in an NFL game...
This is from an e-mail sent to me by cousin who happens to be a rabid NFL fan; but also respects soccer as a viable sport in this country.
"Did you catch any NFL action today? The Chiefs fieid had soccer lines all over it! Whats going on around here?!"
After receving the e-mail, I watched the news and he was correct. The highlights of the Chiefs game clearly showed yellow lines: goal box, center circle, all over the field.
I told my cousin that now he knows 1/100 of how a soccer fans feels when watching a soccer match with american football gridlines all over the field.

I hope he and others also begins to respect soccer, considering the field is wider and longer in some cases, and soccer players run that for 90 minutes. If we have to put up with it, so do they. I hate football fields that are also baseball fields, those are so distracting anf probably dangerous. I know, the fields look so ugly with both markings on, that's why we need soccer specific stadiums!

Every MLS team that doesn't play in their own stadium should paint a small logo somewhere on the field. That way they would leave a little gift on the field that would be visible durring the next NFL or college football game.

Unfortunately this is prohibited by FIFA. :(

If MLS brought it up to FIFA, do you think there is a possiblity of a rule change?
Why the rule? What is the harm of tactfully placed team logos on the field?

If they couldn't put something right on the field maybe they could do something like Barcelona does and that is paint their logo just off the field but right next to the goal posts.

First game of the first season MLS painted their logo on the field and Fifa ordered them to remove it.
