View Full Version : Theirry Henry the Bottler & Choker

True to form Henry bottles it in another big game.
Man U took Henry out of the game with ease, Henry was pathetic gone was all that suave arrogant grace and silky skills you routinely see whenever Henry plays against mediocre third-rate teams like Charlton, Wolves, and West Bromich.
When faced against a quality team and well organized defence in a BIG GAME, Henry true to his character fails.
Before all you Arsenal fans start talking about that famous night in Milan when you beat the worst Inter team of all time 5-1. Remember Inter were in crisis, they were mid-table in Serie A, and the Inter players effectively gave up after the third goal.
But where was Henry when Valencia knocked Arse out of the CLs QF in 2001?
Or World Cup 2002?
Or against Valencia in the CLs?
Or against Man U in at OT in 2002 when Man U won 2-0
Or in the battle of OT in 2003, when in the whole match Henry did nothing
Or in the FA Cup Semi-Final at Villa Park 2004.
Or in the Champions League games against Chelsea, when Arsenal need Henry most to perform he was nowhere to bee seen.
Or the Euro 2004, what did the self-professed best player in the world do? ******** all as usual in the BIG GAMES and Tournaments.
Again when Man U stuffed Arsenal at OT in 2004, it was RvN and Rooney that delivered the goods and stole the limelight. Henry was again nowhere to be seen.
And again yesterday night. In the most important game of Arsenal seasons. A match where Arsenal's whole season will be decided whether AFC are still in the title race or eliminated. A match when AFC need Henry to produce the goods and show his "world class" skills, what did Henry do? Nothing...
Now do Arse fans understand why Henry has NEVER and will NEVER win the best player in Europe and the World Awards? The best players always PRODUCE the goods when it MATTERS in BIG GAMES.
Henry is a bottler and a choker.

I'm not going to get involved in another one of these debates. Let's just say that I agree with you.
manc_sean had a huge thread about this and it was closed, so good luck.

This topic has indeed been covered at length in the past.
On both sides people are going over the top.
Henry is not the second coming of the messiah, nor is he a true bottler.
What is his record of goals against United? Or Chelsea?
He can't genuinely be called a choker when he has repeatedly scored goals against top opposition (a quarter of the goals Chelsea have conceded all season in the league were from Henry in one game).

and even though Arsenal lost, he was quite involved in both goals that Arsenal scored....

You can hardly give him credit for swinging a corner in.

So RVN hits an ill gotten penalty and he's delivered the goods? What about last year when he banged your customary dodgy penalty against us off the crossbar? Remember the goal Thierry scored against you last year? Henry is twice the man horseface will ever be. You know ive heard he (rvn) doesnt talk to the rest of the team outside of training, and didnt invite any of them to his wedding even. He just stands in front of the goal and gets the glory from his teammates work. A dirty bastard to boot. And the worst kind. I mean even Keane has the balls to accept what he's done, not look at the ref like "what? i didnt do anything, im such a nice dutch boy" Fcuk off.

Robbie Earnshaw has a better goalscoring record than Henry in West Bromwich Albion v Arsenal games http://www.btinternet.com/~johnnythrostle/files/razz.gif

Look, Henry got an assist on both goals on Tuesday what else do you want when he literally has the best defender in the premeriship draped (sp?) over him like white on rice?
Of course Henry gets marked out of the match sometimes - he is human - and he is getting double-teamed most of the time. The question is - do his teammates make the proper runs to utilize the space Henry creates?
As someone who has played alot of football you would know that a forward can contribute more sometimes by making a great run - pulling two defenders out of position than he can just holding the ball up and going 1v3.
Ever wonder why the Arsenal midfielders score so many goals? The make deep runs into space created by Henry and company up front.
Go back and re-watch than ManU match. DB10 played great but he was frequently filling the space (like a player of his caliber and intelligence would know how to do) created by Henry.
Sure we would all like him to score 3 goals every match out but being a great player, even a great forward, is more than just scoring.

Oh well then it must be true.
RVN's wedding was a small private ceremony with only close friends and family, not some kind of public Mr. and Mrs. Posh Spice wedding spectacle.
As for Henry, while I wouldn't call him a real bottler, he does need to work on stepping up his game in big matches, as well as in Europe. It's something that needs improvement if Arsenal are going to make a run at the Champions League final.

Spoilsort, inserting common sense into English tribal warfare. I want to hear more about this bottling thing.

Let me just ask you something? Why is there all this... hmm, what's the word? INTEREST, for lack of a better word, around the man, anyway?
I'll answer it, too... If he wasn't a great player, no one would talk about him. He does, on occasion, appear to "choke" but who's to say it isn't cuz he's being marked really well? There are some excellent defenders in the league, and they probably spend hours in training focusing on how to stop him (I'm not saying this with arrogance - he is really quick)
Anyway, with all that said, no player is consistently good. You may wanna say Shevchenko or Ronaldinho, but I don't buy it. And RvN certainly isn't. Henry is good, and when he wants to be, he's great. I'll take him any day over all the other EPL forwards, that's just me.
Also, that line about "self-proclaimed WPOTY" is just BS. Don't put words into his mouth, cuz he isn't that arrogant and he's already got a rep for it.

I agree with warren S
but sometime good striker meet a good defener like Fio
then nothing good to produce .. always block & block..
anyway he is very good free kick I ever seen ( second goal Chelsea & Arsenal )

yes, that goal was brilliant. WHy doesn't he just shoot in the open goal next time when nobody is watching? What are you talking about? a good free kick? Cech wasn't even watching the ball. Sheesh.
However, he is a very good kicker nevertheless, just that example is very poor.

I think Warren has forgotten that Henry SCORED against United in 2000/01 (twice), 2001/2002, 2002/2003 and against them in the Charity Shield.
So to state he NEVER scores against a top side is folly.
