After this world cup can we still say that Saviola is better than Ronaldinho? I don't think so!

I agree, before the WC i voted for Saviola, now i gotta go with Ronaldinho, even though Saviola scored two nice ones yesterday, the game R had against England does it for me.

........................2 pieces of cleverness from Ron. Gaucho won the game. Tight games are often won by brilliance and was the man that day. Unfortunately, the English football fraternity in England just won't accept that he MEANT that feee kick. I tell them, look at the way his body was open when he took it.

I think Ronaldinho can be one of the best players of all time. He has everything a creative mid needs except for maybe a little more physical strength.

He was marvelous in the WC and I have seen some fantastic moves by him in PSG as well.

A poll before the 2002WC favoured Saviola now people are favour Gaucho but we mustn't forget that Saviola didn't go to the WC so we don't know how he'd have faired.

IMO that was a huge mistake on Argentina's part - not taking Saviola. Instead they brought along two aging strikers - Batistuta and Caniggia. No doubt they were talented in their prime but... that was a while ago. The offense was woefully unexciting and stagnant and they needed him.

Oh well.

...also not taking Requileme was a bo boo...it was basically the same squad that failed in WC94 - how did they expect them to succeed in WC2002!!!???

Time will tell if either Gaucho or Saviola become greats both will need to outshine Ronaldo and Zidane...with respect to Gaucho he needs to dominate games consistently like Maradona and have 100% belief.

Agree with general sentiment. As some of you may know, I've been a Dinho superfan since seeing him play with Gremio at 17. A couple of thoughts:

a) The guy we should be comparing Ronaldinho to is Aimar.....closer in position and role...and closer in overall talent (IMO) than with Saviola (who is a very good player in his own right). These two will be competing head to head for us to see for a long while barring injury (knock on wood)

b) Ronaldinho needs to realize that he is on the verge of superstardom (that is inter-generational stardom, he's already a star), and that he needs to keep his nerve at all times. Sometimes he is prone to the stupid foul and being "distracted" out of games. He's very young still and I know it will come, but it would be nice if he decided to work on these mental lapses (which admittedly are fewer and far between).

IMO his potential is greater than any active player playing first league football. Will he fullfill all of it..that is the question.
