Just finished watching this game. I'm including this on the Bayern thread because they will eventually play them in the CL. Arsenal was up by half time and then played some of the worst football, conceding 3 goals to go down in a massive game.

According to how Arsenal played today and in other games they've lost and underperformed this season, Bayern should have NO problem AT ALL beating them in their CL tie. Their defense is utter crap, and Almunia is no better than Lehman. Campbell and Cole are world class defenders but Arsenals defense overall leaves too much space in the back when they are attacking and they never seem to be on cue either. Almunia makes too many bad decisions as well. As it stands now, Bayern are the better side. They have slight defensive problems as well but they have it more together, that's for sure. The Gunners also don't seem to be able to cope with preasure which should favor Bayern well.

What do you guys think?

Well,i think in the Champs League this season Bayern have shown they can demolish weak defenses,at home anyways(4-0 vs Ajax,5-1 vs Tel Aviv)so i reckon if Arsenals keeper continue to be so bad, then Bayern,Makaay especially, will run riot in their defense.I think at Highbury it will be a draw, but im confident we'll beat them in Munich

I think Lehmann will be back in Arsenal`s goal by the time they meet Bayern.

Sooner I think. I don't think Wenger is satisfied with Almunia's performance at all. 4 goals at home is just too much, even if you're playing Man Utd. I think Wenger gave up on Lehman too easily, Jens is the better goalkeeper by far I think.

i dont like english teams in general (cept pool) and i really detest manu, but if we lose to this p1ss-poor arsenal side, i seriously will be gutted more than ever...

we need to get back into the QFs and stuff those overrated, arrogant prem sides down where they belong and get this done for the bundesliga and german football...

CMON BAYERN, LEVERKUSEN, BREMEN!!!

3 teams in the QFs for the 2nd best quality league in the world (after spain)

If the defence and keeper plays like it did in the 2nd half yesturday vs Man Utd,I will expect Arsenal to be pulling the ball atleast 3 times out of the net in Munich.

Of course by the time we play you guys Arsenal will probably have the exact same defense that we had last year.
Lauren-Toure-Sol-Cole with Jens in goal.

I still think you'll have a good chance against us on set pieces but you won't get 4 goals from the run of play. I wouldn't read that much into the defense we had in the ManU game. It be like me judging B.Munich based on your 4-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Aug 28.

Can't argue this, now can we boys? Only difference I can point out is that loss didn't happen on Tuesday night, or for the last 8-9 games. France, I mean Arsenal, on the other hand, from what I understand, hasn't looked good since the break.

Regardless, I am more than certain Arsenal will be ready for their fixture in Munich.

On the flipside, as mentioned, Munich seems to be lacking some scoring punch on the road but at home has had no problem. They have keep a "clean sheet" thus far in competition after the break as well. Kahn and the backline are coming together well. Now if only Sagnol could return as a permanent fixture.

catfish, i watch the prem quite regularly, and trust me, many coulda seen this coming for arsenal for a long while...

i dont discuss anything except german football on big soccer, so i cant back up that statement here :)

i, for one, am certainly not making these comments based on last weekends game...

if you look at our posts or the threads leading up to the draw for the CL knockout round, you will see my post where i basically said id want to draw either chelsea or arsenal...

chelsea because i think theyre the best team in europe, atm and if we're gonna win the tourney, wed have to beat the best sooner or later, so might as well play the best right from the start of the KO round - if we win, what a boost - if we lose, well we can concentrate on getting back the bundesliga, which looks to be going down to the wire...

arsenal, because if we didnt get the strongest side, id want the weakest side we coulda drawn, and among the group winners, i thought arsenal was definitely the weakest opponent for bayern (we never do well against french clubs)

Can a few of the Munich fans sum up strengths and weaknesses of your squad this year?

I watch the Bundesliga every now and again, but haven't seen Munich play in a while. Would love to have a little background going in to our CL tie with you all.

Specific questions:

1. General formation (I realize this shifts in most cases)
2. Strongest line-up

Any thoughts?

You're not Arsene Wenger in duisguise right, seeking to find out weaknesses through fans on BigSoccer.

Wow by the looks of this thread it looks like we aready have a ticket into the quarters but wait a minute. Yes I know Arsenal have been playing ousy futbol, and yes their defense is on the verge of collapse but remember a couple of these points,

1. With the Premiership out of Arsenals reach.. the Champions League is pretty much all they have left to play for so I do believe that they will be up for these games.

2. Henry is ice cold... I just hope he doesnt find his form on the 22nd or it could be a long night.

It is very important that Bayern win in Munich because I know Arsenal will find the net at least once. It would be a nightware if Bayern draw 1-1 in Munich because I am not to confortable with having to go into highberry having to score a number of away goals to advance

I wouldn't exactly say he is ice cold, he had a great game against Villa, could have scored more too but yea that was just one game. 1-1 in Munchen would be a total disaster, we can't reapeat a Madrid again. Thats why its important to take the first leg and go into London comfortably. Bayern is known to be able to prevent goals and work really hard in defense, this seasons team also knows how to score them. That is why I wouldn't say I'm being cocky or arrogant but we should move on to the QFs.

The Bayern v. Bayer04 match was virtually a champions league game... .judging by the response on their home soil, I see no reason why a victory is not in order. The team defense for Munich was most impressive. They will look to congest the middle and cut off the wings and hold strong when under pressure, then score on deadballs, quick strikes off the counter, or capatilize on mistakes in the back to middle third.

The thing Munich has done well is disrupt opposing team's rhythm and that is exactly what they aim to do versus Arsenal.

The only time this is hard for Munich to do is when they face a team that is better at doing this than they are.... ie. Juventus - the defensive juggernaut (bastards!).
