Ah crap, not again! We didn't exactly overwhelm them in the Carling Cup, and now they have some semblance of a defense.

Speaking of defense, going to be different seeing Babs in pinstripes playing against us.

Well we had a stage where we were still winning but it wasn't pretty. Hopefully that is as bad as it gets this year ;)
However as another poster has said Jose does not seem to have taken the FA cup as seriously as the Carling cup.

The lineup surely seemed to indicate that, but having already faced birmingham twice, JM may have felt confident about what he needed to beat them and defend, and he had the heavy guns, at least attacking, on the bench if needed, and really we should have been up another 2-3 goals at half.
My guess is if the fellows on the other side of the gap draw, given the strength of the schedule for the next spell we might start to see more squad players getting a run in the league, but not at all at once and not at Blackburn, will want to extend the gap.
Also guess we will see a better lineup, especially at the back for for the barcodes with a healthy Shearer.
Edit - p.s. the only place to rest Lamp (as well as Mak & PF) is in other competitions, and with the CL getting serious, only the final left in the league cup, may have been the last chance for a little rest.
With the streak you would have to hack Lamp (and JT & Mak probably as well, for that matter) to bits like the black night in the Holy Grail and then constantly throw the bits off the field to keep them out of a league match, all the while hearing them mutter "It's only a wee flesh wound..."

Looks like we have to beat the Magpies again. This time we can take it easy and only score 3 times, that will do for me.

Ahh, the toon.
Bet red nose is happy - after all he predicted we won't do well North of Birmingham......oh, wait a second.:D
Tough draw, daunting place to go in the cup, but winnable all the same.
