Well, will we see 4-4-2 at home? Or is it back to 4-5-1 after our porous defense against the Glovers?

Could Jeffers play out wide on the right in the 4-5-1? I think he could. That way, we could defend 4-5-1 and attack 4-3-3.

Thoughts? Here's my starting 11:

Kiely
Young - El_K - Fortune - HH
Murphy - Holland - Konchesky
Jeffers - Bartlett - Thomas

Subs: Andersen, Kishishev, Hughes, JJ, Euell

Seems the Reds have trouble dealing with the 4-5-1.

Just saw this on another board. I will have to investigate. So, who besides Charlton and Everton have been playing 4-5-1 and against Liverpool?

Also heard a comment on 606 from yesterday from an Addicks fan that says Jeffers is just plain lazy. Anyone agree? He is a fox, so maybe he is just sly? Or does he really need to get stuck in and show some defensive effort?

I do think that Jeffers is a bit lazy. When he loses the ball he doesn't chase it down. Instead he runs to the referee screaming for a foul. In some ways I think his defensive attitude makes Rommedahl look a defensive genius.

Let's see, the Reds versus the 4-5-1 this season:

Liverpool @ Southamption -- January 22 -- L -- 0-2
Crouch gives them fits and Prutton also provides problems on the wing

Liverpool v Chelsea -- January 1 -- L -- 0-1
Though Chelsea plays more a 4-3-3 really

Liverpool @ Everton -- December 11 -- L -- 0-1
Carsley curles a low shot past an unsighted Chris Kirkland
Before Graveson's departure or Beattie arrival

Liverpool v Crystal Palace -- November 13 -- W -- 3-2
Late PK by Barros saves Reds

Liverpool @ Manchester United -- September 20 -- L -- 1-2
Rio returns and Silvestre scores two headers either side of the break

Only a victory over Palace and that was without Andy Johnson playing. We should definitely go with 4-5-1. But who plays the wings? Thomas should be on but should we chance Rommedahl or bring on Konchesky?

Will Kishishev get back in or will we continue to play the more offensive Hughes in the midfield?

C'mon you Addicks! I look forward to listening to a victory.

Are you guys still 1-0 up or did Morientes and Riise both score to make it 2-1? :D

I had to go to a meeting. I attribute Charlton's loss to my inability to properly cheer them on.

The Addicks played a good first half but ran out of gas in the second. A tired team played against a team that really wanted it and had a whole week to prepare -- no FA Cup games for the Reds. Liverpool was class and deserved victory and the points.

I don't want to criticize Curbs, but playing Thomas on the right is not working. Jerome has done so much better on the left. I wonder, could Konchesky play on the right? Paul would be able to cut back to his strong foot to go inside a little and lay off the overlapping passes to Luke Young time and again.

Or play Konchesky as the non-wing midfielder on the left -- better than no defense and bad passing Mr. Hughes.

C'mon you Addicks, time to get some points again.

I understand the Addicks went off the field with dejected looks.

That's a good sign that they are not complacent. This will be no February swoon as in years past. We will get some results in the next few matches and keep marching onward through the end of the season.
