New backup goalkeeper for Robbo, on loan for 18 months.

"We have three very good young keepers - Marton Fulop, Robert Burch and Nicky Eyre - who are for the future," explained Sporting Director Frank Arnesen. "We need one for inbetween, with Kasey Keller gone, and we want to send the young keepers out for a loan spell at a higher level than reserve football.

"We were looking for a very good keeper, who has the ambition to play, but also knows Paul Robinson is in front of him. Cerny, who we know because of the relationship with Slavia Prague, is an international player for the Czech Republic behind Petr Cech.

"He is 31 in February and it is the ideal situation for him and us - and he will stay here for 18 months."

Jol got a bit spooked having 19-year old Nicky Eyre on the bench against recently. We certainly needed some decent experienced cover for Robbo. Again i reckon Arnesen's probably done a good thing here - he's got rid of Keller who was a great back-up keeper but on top wages (i understand he was on at least £30k p/w) and brought in someone on far less wages to do a similar job. And of course there was no fee.

Someone sounds jealous!

I love the fact that they say he's been looking for a club since leaving Arsenal. Well, to be honest I don't really want a keeper than couldn't beat Jens Lehman or Almunia to being in the team! LOL
