Former Everton player and manager Jimmy Gabriel has some nice things to say about MLS and some of its players, particularly Landon Donovan (now at Bayer Leverkusen):

"I would be pleased if Everton got Landon - he's the type of player that would be good for them, and their style of play would suit him," Gabriel said.

"He's a great athlete with great fitness, he's brave and he scores goals with either foot or his head - and he has done it at the highest level."

Wouldn't it be nice if Landon ends up disliking Germany again and moves to the Prem? Like Gabriel, I think he'd make for a great Toffee.

That would be great, I used to go to a fair amount of Earthquake games since I live near San Jose, Landon is a great player, probably the best in the US right now. But I doubt he would get to move to the prem anytime soon.

Interesting read but I don't see LD making the move to the Premiership anytime soon either. Doesn't he hold a German passport? Seems to me like that's the place he wants to be. How long was the deal he signed with Leverkusen anyway?

I think Landon's got 2 and 1/2 years left on his contract with BL.

I expect how long he stays with with Bayer will be mainly influenced by how much playing time Landon gets.

If he's a regular starter I could see him playing 4+ years for Leverkusen.

But if he spends most of his time on the bench, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Landon pushing for a transfer in a year's time.
