Thanks! Ya, seems like it would be a bit soon to give up on Reading.

the actual caption on the Dayak photo:
"Troy Dayak was as solid as his mullet during the '89 FIFA World Youth Championship."
that is outstanding text.

Good interview.
Bobby is on track -- disappointed but still patient. He should be feeling both emotions. If things don't change by season's end, then he needs to scrap the patient part and ensure that he gets some place, any place, where he will play.

Anyone been able to see him enough, since his move, to tell if he is growing as a player? I have not seen anything.
ps: what kind of money does a guy like Convey make at Reading?
ps: that, is a tremendous mullet.

Wasn't Hugo Perez of Salvadoran background?
Back on Convey. An "I am not going to quit" headline isn't exactly earthshattering news. At least he's playing on a pretty good team that is doing pretty well in the standings. As long as he's patient and keeps working hard in trainiing he should get more chances. But it's hard to criticize the manager too much when the team is doing well.
Best wishes for Bobby and I hope he gets pencilled back in to the starting lineup.

It depends on what part of the Roman Empire you lived in..... :D
The interesting thing is if he sticks it out, who knows what could happen. Reading looks to have a chance at finishing out the year in the playoffs for a spot in the prem.

"It's harder to get playing time here than in Kevin Payne's basement."
Guess that quote ended on the cutting room floor.

The manager mentions missing clear goals on several occasions, who else could it be? :P

Fun to compare this thread to the ones discussing Nellie's early successes in England with Rovers.
--Who says accomplishing something in MLS isn't important? People always acted like Convey was held back by our team, they/he made excuses for him etc. meanwhile you saw Nelsen shut up and adapt and improve from the moment he was here. The difference in their play overseas ibeleive shows the difference in their approach...
Convey was never a finished product HERE. Why would he or Reading expect him to immediately take off there?

ps: what kind of money does a guy like Convey make at Reading?According to this article (http://www.soccertimes.com/americans/2004/aug03.htm), Bobbito is making a little over $500K which I suspect is average or above-average in the Championship.

It would appear from the article on Reading's site that Owusu missed several chances. The only time Bobby was mentioned, it was either a steal in midfield, which led to a goal for RFC, a nice cross which someone else didn't finish, a corner which led to a score, and his own score. Sounds like he did ok to me.

Convey was not in the XI or on the sub's bench for today's scoreless draw. FWIW.

Winger Bobby Convey was not even on the bench last weekend, but responded with a very good goal for the reserves, smacking home a 25-yard piledriver. Coppell does not expect to bring him in at Elland Road, but backed him to come through soon. "It was an excellent goal. Again he was a lot sharper and it wasn't a routine performance. I probably won't change the subs because they did nothing wrong last week, he'll probably have to sit this one out as well but it's a re-focus time for Bob, and we hope he soon makes the impace we all believe he can."

Convey was on the bench for Reading's latest stumble. They are now out of the promotion zone, languishing in 7th and threatening to dive deeper.
