And yet another newspaper quote about the "great" soccer scene in the Seattle area.

Yawn.

Translate that into attendance numbers and I *might* get a bit more enthused...

In addition to the Sounders home schedule and international matches, Qwest Field has been the site of numerous amateur tournaments in one of the most active soccer communities in the country. Washington state, according to CONCACAF, has the top youth soccer participation per capita in the country, and more than 500,000 people in the Seattle area are involved in soccer.

The Seattle Sounders drew under 40,000 fans COMBINED for all 2004 home matches (16).

Isn't he in RSL's preseason camp though?
(If we're talking about the same guy)

It's the same guy. I spoke with Leighton on January 21st and he seemed a bit surprised when I asked about trying out at RSL. He has thought about nothing beyond Seattle since returning to the States. Time will tell.

January 21, 2005.

This link does say O'Brien (as well as former Sounders keeper Rich Cullen!) have been invited to RSL camp.

Yep. Make it for the rivalry games for sure. You're more than welcome to join in the supporters section at the front of section 113 too!
