And yet another newspaper quote about the "great" soccer scene in the Seattle area.
Yawn.
Translate that into attendance numbers and I *might* get a bit more enthused...
In addition to the Sounders home schedule and international matches, Qwest Field has been the site of numerous amateur tournaments in one of the most active soccer communities in the country. Washington state, according to CONCACAF, has the top youth soccer participation per capita in the country, and more than 500,000 people in the Seattle area are involved in soccer.
The Seattle Sounders drew under 40,000 fans COMBINED for all 2004 home matches (16).
