All along, I've wanted to wait until the Fed got its allotment because I figured that would become the de facto Sam's Army section. However, for the most part I'm confused as to how this whole ticketing process works. It's important to me to sit with other US fans, but the difficulty in getting tickets has led me to think about grabbing whatever comes available.
Does anyone know if the US fans who buy TSTs will be grouped together in our respective sections?
Will the TST category 3s become the SA section? It seems like that is the most popular choice.

Honestly don't know, but it would make sense, and I sure hope this is the case.

I would bet that the US fans will be grouped together....They specifically ask "Who do you support" I don't think they want different supporters mixing too much in the stands!!
I was planning on waiting on the USSF too but this was too good to pass up :D
Regardless....we will be where the most RED is period!

Sounds good. Now if they would only make 2 TSTs available at the same time.
I don't really understand why tickets are becoming available one at a time? In the past 2 hours, 1 TST-6 cat 1 has become available at least 3 times. Why wouldn't they make them all available at the same time in case you were looking to buy more than 1?

It's an automated system that produces tickets when inventory appears for various reasons. For example, someone clicked on a ticket to reserve it, filled in all it's information and then the credit card transaction failed, the ticket would then go back into the inventory and re-appear.
I'm sure there are other algorythms that have been set up to produce inventory for numbers of reasons.

All I know is that I spent three hours this morning PST trying to get USA tickets...everytime a number came up and I put in the password, I got an error message...or it told me the tickets were sold out...
disgusting....

Same thing happened to me. I think I may have gotten too greedy-- I was waiting until the ticket I wanted came up, and then going in for it... but I don't have a month to spend in Germany... I want to be on the sidelines for USA TST-4. Is that so wrong?

I guess the good news for those of you that got tickets in this phase was that the exchange rate was better. I think it was up in that 1.65 range when I got my tickets and I paid over $1800 for 3 tst-6 cat 3 tickets.
Good luck to everyone left out this time around in getting your tickets from USSF.
I can't wait to for the draw now so that I can plan the rest of my trip!

Is anybody hoping that they get tickets through the lottery that they re-did the other day? I am hoping that through this I will become one of the lucky ones we shall see. Find out tomorrow.
"In a repeat of the procedure used for the first sales phase, the new ballot took place at OC premises in Frankfurt and was supervised by a lottery official from the state of Hesse. The ballot software has been certified as guaranteeing an equal chance of success to all applicants. The latest winners will be notified by 26 August 2005 and asked to confirm receipt of the notification in writing within 14 days. "

Wait, they re-did the first phase lottery? So if you applied during the first phase you get a second chance? Or did you have to re-apply?

That is the way I am seeing this from fifa's website, is anyone else reading it differently? I hope not.

it seems possible, but not likely IMO, that fifa would have re-run the first phase lottery.
the returns for non-payment and failure to comply with sales regulations seem to be the tickets that were becoming sporadically available on 8/24.
Although I suppose there is a chance that someone who was not a winner in the first phase lottery could still be drawn in the re-lottery with some of these available tickets. again, this re-lottery does not seem certain to have occured given what I have read (but I could be wrong).
It just doesn't seem likely since I seem to remember people getting notifications after the first phase indicating that they were not allocated tickets, but they were welcome to try again (meaning re-apply, i believe) in subsequent phases.
Although, this text from 8/24 at http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/050824/1/4f0r.html:
"The ballot software has been certified as guaranteeing an equal chance of success to all applicants. The latest winners will be notified by 26 August 2005 and asked to confirm receipt of the notification in writing within 14 days."
seems very confusing and may give hope to some who were denied in phase one to recieve a notification by 8/26/05. it doesn't make perfect sense to me.
Yesterday, was an opportunity for those lucky enough to be aware of the re-emergence of online tickets, to get in and reapply for tickets.
also from: http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/050824/1/4f0r.html
"812,000 FIFA World Cup match tickets were made available for sale in the first two sales phases, including 147,000 TST or team-specific series. TST returns will be offered for sale through www.FIFAworldcup.com at a later date." (i.e. 8/24/05 for USA fans)
and
"A further 300,000 tickets go on sale in the third sales phase beginning in December 2005. As in the first phase, applicants are under no time pressure as the order in which applications are received has no bearing on the likelihood of getting tickets. The OC is assuming demand will again outstrip supply, and will allocate tickets by ballot on a match-by-match basis."

also, coming up in December (after the Dec. 9th draw and supposedly sooner given when the USA qualifies for WC2006 Finals), the USSF as a Participating Member Association will be entitled to sell “Fixed” and “Conditional” tickets to members of the general public.
from: http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/tickets/overview.html
12. How will Participating Member Association Ticket Sales Work?
Participating Member Associations will be entitled to sell “Fixed” and “Conditional” tickets to members of the general public. Fixed tickets are tickets which are not conditional upon a Member Associations’ progress through the competition, that is to say, tickets for First Round Matches played by that Member Association. Conditional tickets are tickets which are conditional upon the participation of a Member Association in the corresponding Second Round Match. Once a Member Association is eliminated, it loses its ticket entitlement for all subsequent Second Round matches and individuals who paid for such tickets shall be entitled to a refund from their Member Association.
The number of tickets allocated to each Participating Member Association will be based on the capacities of the stadia in which each Member Association’s team may play during each stage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™. Following the Final Draw on 9 December 2005, the Participating Member Association ticket allocation will be adjusted to correspond to eight percent (8%) of all purchasable tickets in the stadium in which the Member Association is drawn to play its First Round Matches, or where it may progress to play its Second Round Matches.
Each Member Association is entitled to commence ticket sales for both Fixed and Conditional tickets immediately upon confirmation of its qualification for the finals of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™. Details of the tickets (price, category and number) made available by the Participating Member Association will be made available in due course by the Participating Member Association. The number of Participating Member Associations for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ will be 32. Contact details for each Participating Member Association may be found at www.FIFA.com.
If a Member Association’s team does not progress to all stages of the Second Round, the right to use Conditional Tickets for Second Round matches following the elimination of that Team will be lost and a refund will be provided.
Member Associations are free to choose which methods of payment will be made available to fans buying tickets from the Member Associations.

From what I understand, the recent lottery of tickets -- the one a bunch of us got in on yesterday -- was done the same way as the first phase lottery, but was not a "red-do" of the first one.
You can read the details here:
http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/050824/1/4f0r.html
In short, if you didn't get tickets through the original lottery, or from this re-allocation of 40,665 single tickets, you'll have to try again in December.

So if I understand correctly, the latest ticket grab (i.e yesterday's TST tix) did not have to do with the above and thusly I don't have to notify them in writing?
(Christ these people are confusing. I'd expect nothing less from the good people at FIFA)

i think yesterday's availability of tickets was not exactly like phase one, in that phase one was a general lottery, and when you applied then, it did not matter in which order you did so. entering at any point in phase 1 gave you an equal shot at winning tickets in the lottery. many were not selected. demand outstripped supply.
now we are in phase 2:
from http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/tickets/index.html
"The second sales period for 2006 FIFA World Cup™ match tickets begins on 2 May 2005 at 12 o'clock midday CEST (Central European Summer Time).
Tickets will be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis in this sales period, i.e. applications will be processed in the order they are received. Subject to availability, TST (Team Specific Ticket) series may be ordered by applicants wishing to follow a specific team as they progress through the tournament. Due to high levels of demand in the first sales period, individual tickets and TST series will not be available at the start of the new period for the following nations: Germany, Argentina, Brazil, England, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the USA."
my emphasis added. and 8/24/05 was the day that some more tickets became available due to non-payment or non-compliance with Fifa.com regulations.
phase 2 has not really been first come first serve for US fans, as it was more of a lucky happenstance to be on bigsoccer and see that more tickets were up at the fifa site. then at that point it was sort of first come first serve and who had the lucky refresh capability in their browser.
I'd imagine phase 2 will continue to run in this fashion until December when Phase 3 starts. but i'm not sure if there will be another period of available tickets, as I doubt there will be too many more non-payments or non-compliance with Fifa.com regulations.
