This is incredibly overpriced I have to say....you can do the same for about half the cost if you just take out a day and plan this yourself.

Agreed. The costs listed above are extremely Expensive. I Lived it up in France at previous WorldCup, then scuddlebutted down to Spain for Running of the Bulls, then came back up to France to see the final. My total trip cost including airfare and 3 separate game tickets were half of the 4-Star rate.

But, I must warn you, I bought all 3 tickets at the 3 games outside the stadium. At one of the games with HOlland and Argentina (?) , I bought one of my tickets outside the gate in Montpelier....turned out it was part of that mail stolen scam that occured. Anyway, I had a ticket that was stolen. It was at the start of the 2nd half and I was escorted out of my seat by those French bastards. After interrogating me in the underground part of the stadium, they refused to listen to my plight, and therefore kicked me out of the stadium. At that point, at least I got to tell them about how our california wine is better than french and how the french movie industry is dead and how they are all a bunch of stuck up #@$@%. Anyway, I watched the game on mute at a Bar around the corner, hearing the fans yell in 2-D. that sucked.

On my previous French trip, I swore I wouldn't be back at that stupid french country, but the worldcup sent me to my destiny. Getting kicked out of a French Soccer Stadium during the World Cup.

I was once deported from the U.K. due to a work visa (or last there of) and they didn't treat me nearly that good. I would have much rather been roughed up by some Frenchie security guards.

There isn't even a change in price when you consider that the discount has been reduced from 15% in the original offer to 10% in this "discounted" offer. It's the same crap offer.

So my buddy and I are planning on going over for this, and getting the tickets through the USSF.

What kind of chances do we stand in getting tickets would you say? I know it all depends on demand, but if you guys had to guess, go for it.

Also, I'm confused about the ordering lotteries now. Do you basically sign up for games and then random teams are placed into those slots depending on how the group drawings work? Couldn't you end up with a game like Senegal vs. Iran (or any two arbitrary teams) that you have no interest in seeing? If this is the case, hopefully there are some Europeans with no interest in seeing American games and willing to move those seats should they acquire them.

Thanks for your help, I know I'm a little new around these parts, but any advice is appreciated.

Alright, so after reading through this (I'm understanding a lot better this morning) my question would be why aren't more people using the TST option and keeping the USSF as a backup?

This is not a flame for any particular person, but after reading through numerous BS threads and keeping tabs on the YIG list, are people actually reading the FAQs on the official WC site or Googling for info? BS is a great source for finding answers to the less obvious questions, but what's up with the "How do I get tickets?" or "What does TST mean?" posts? As another BSer told someone on another thread: "Good luck with the train schedule."

Since this is probably at least partially directed at me, you're right, I should have checked the FAQ of the relevant sites and forums first.

I guess that didn't cross my mind when posting at 1:22 in the morning. My apologies, but thanks to those who did help.

All tickets are person-specific, so if you don't buy it or are a guest of a buyer who registers you, you're not getting into any stadium.

I understand that the person buying the tickets will theoretically have to be at that game (if they enforce it), but by registering guests, do they mean that you have to say before hand which other people will be going with you? In other words, if I got 4 tickets to a match, would I have to say which other 3 people would accompany me on the application, and only those 3 could go with me? I certainly hope not.

Unfortunately yes...When you apply for the tickets, you must list the names/address/birthdate/Passport Number of each individual ticket holder that plans on going with you.

Now there is a way to change the names after the fact, but the claim it can be done in only extreme circumstances.

Finally, they state they will be doing random ID checks at the gates and not on all spectators. So there is some leeway.

Honestly though, I'm not too worried about getting in with a ticket that is someone else's then my own.

I went to the England vs. Croatia match at EURO 2004, and they only had the name of the ticket purchaser on all 4 tickets I purchased- in other words, as long as I was there it didn't matter who the other 3 people were. It sounds like they're implementing a different policy in Germany, but hopefully they won't enforce it too strictly.

Social security number can be used in place of passport number at this point, correct?
