You mean, try to get his ticket separately? Maybe his father doing it on his own? What about all seating together? what a mess!!! How can I have a minor alone? What happens to the family of five?
Just try to move around. My group my end up being split if I am successful here, we are all Americans. Just gradually move yourself over section by section.

Anyone know when US Soccer will inform the people whose applications were accepted? Not the confirmation of arrival but for the people who will be getting tickets. Will it be in enough time that we could try the FIFA lottery also?

It's sort of interesting to look at the early posts (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164691&page=1) on this thread and read how some were going to skip the FIFA because they trusted USSF. Others didn't want to take chances.
It's not a point to be made yet. Let's wait and make this point after we see if Day 1/2 people get denied.

I said it was interesting, not prophetic. :)

I assume they will know by January 1 who will get tickets and who will be waitlisted. I finally got a fax in at 6pm CT Monday, got a confirmation email today, and am #2050. Since 8% of stadium capacity (40-60K) is only 3200-4800 tickets, I'd say it's 50/50 or less I get anything.
I wasn't really wild about the method US Soccer used for this - I'd prefer something like the FIFA model, where it's a random draw no matter when you apply. Odds of getting tickets shouldn't depend on your fax redial frequency.
Anyone else willing to state when you got a fax/FedEx in and what confirmation # you got, out of curiosity?
Worst case - apply for the FIFA tix also and if you already got 7 US tix, they'll just bounce your FIFA pplication. They log applications by passport # and bounce your new order if your request plus previously alotted tickets is over seven, from experience.

The numbers don't mean anything with respect to who gets tickets. Relax.

Rubbish - we have two threads, countless posts, and the conclusion of some of us was that it made much more sense that the numbers indicated ticket numbers - i.e. 10,000 max divided over 3 first round games came out to nearly our allottment.
That's the closest we've come. Jaredm said that he thought it would be more random and that we wouldn't see as many 0s. I believe him.

We have a family of five and will undoubtedly be split. My plan is to send my 5 and 12-year olds into the Italian supporters section with flares.

Oh please, this whole sky is falling garbage is nonsense. There is no way USSF received 7000 ticket orders on Monday via fax. No way.
I have contributed. My posts all day have been along the same lines: There does seem to be a general trend that earlier applications get earlier numbers, but there are too many anomalies to indicate that the number you get is your absolute place in line. I know, for example, that some people that DHL'ed it in around 9:30 or so are getting 8000 numbers, while I got a 91XX number, and mine got in at 7:09am.
There is no indication that the numbers assigned are nothing more than numbers that probably have more to do with when they were processed, as opposed to when received (as a general matter, the ones received earlier were probably processed earlier, which is why they have lower numbers). But we have ABSOLUTELY no idea whether the numbers within certain ranges are merely random, with large gaps between numbers, or whether they mean anything else. I won't get my panties in a wad until I get something from USSF that indicates I am out of the running.

.
We didnt say that.
To reiterate, that number, minus 1000, is your hypothetical ticket number.
You can divide that by 4 to get a minimum number of applications turned in Monday and Tuesday.

I mentioned that for the Mexico game, half kidding, and was verbally reprimanded... I don't think it will work...

As was demonstrated in another thread, there is evidence that overnight packages were sorted and processed alphabetically.

Improved.
I wouldn't mind this actually. I'm not a huge fan of it, and I am glad stadiums in the US ban its use, but since we're in Germany, and if it isn't banned by the stadiums, I'd love to do it for once.

Alright...with no feedback from Amy or anyone from USSF, nor any inside information to speak of....I say we have a good chance of beginning to hear back on tickets before Christmas and a great chance to begin hearing back before the New Year.
Reason 1: Because I want to believe this!!
The rationale behind the hope: From what it looks like they gave themselves a week to handle the onrush (i.e. if you don't hear back from us by Monday, 12/19, let us know). They would then take another week to handle any 'contention'; i.e. 'I sent in my form and didn't get a confirmation'. This is reasonable to expect they will get some of these and that it will take a couple of days to resolve. However, there should be many requests that are not affected by this, UNLESS there are a lot of these issues. I have only heard of one on BS. Since BS is the TRUTH, that means we won't have to wait too long for them to be resolved (hee-hee, wink, wink). So...best case, they can begin to send out some confirmations - the ones that aren't impacted by any complexities. The rest will get theirs the week after Christmas.
The big UNLESS is UNLESS USSF closes down between Christmas and New Years, but I would think they would want to be viewed more as a Santa Claus than a Scrooge and so I think we will see some this week. Not seeing them just means that they haven't resolved a contention of someone who says they entered an order before you. But even then, they should just be able to hold some tickets 'in contingency' for those that are saying they got their order in earlier. It should make the 'wait list' longer, but shouldn't impact the earlier folks getting their confirmation of having tickets.
How's that for unbridled, unsupported (by any previous sense of competency from USSF) optimism......???

They lost my initial fax, and when I wrote asking where was my confirmation, they asked me to resend both the fax plus the confirmation from my fax machine...
Upon receipt (and another email 2 days later asking what the status was) I received a copy of my confirming email with my confirmation # (dated to the time/day when my fax was received).
So all is well here...lets wait and see...
