on serious note Chelsea historicly are the 3rd biggest club in london as they haven't been as sucsessful as Tottenham and @r$£n@! in tophey and league wise but now you could consider them to be one of the biggest clubs in England now with the fans, players, money and league status etc...

Spurs..biggest? hahahahahahaha....wrong end of seven sisters road my friend.
Arsenal have traditionally been the biggest club in London and the biggest club in the south. The trophy haul from the midlands up is spread amongst a few clubs. Below the midlands, Arsenal have typically had to do the 'heavy lifting'. Spurs had a few good years here and there, early '60s and early '80s but by and large its Arsenal.

Depends on what your your requirements are for what makes a club "big".

I have usally considerd it to be the clubs 'loyal' fan base'.
Name the senior players of by heart been a fan for several seasons and most importantly support the club though thick and thin.

I agree with fan base but I would also add public perception. In other words, what do your peers honestly think of your club's size and/or importantance.

I would agree with that but you have to be careful because there are many out there who would consider Charlton bigger than Shef W.

But those people just don't know better.
Going by our combined two opinions I would have to say:
Fans: No
Perception: Yes
So I guess I am undecided but I think the level of the perception would thrust us into a "big" club and overtake any new fans we have. I mean, anything we do anymore is front page news. Even threads like this make me realize just how much we've become the "it" team right now. Not that that's always good. In fact, in some ways I kind of miss the days of even 5 years ago when a good FA Cup run was considered a great year.

Well, they are for sure the 3rd biggest team in London.
We will let the Arsenal and Spurs fans fight it out wrt who is #1.

Not what I am saying! :D I don't hate it right now. I just miss the feeling I had when we would make an FA Cup run or the run we made in the CL a few years ago. It was unexpected and exhilarating. Now I expect it and in a way, it's not the same for me. I am sure to get flamed for it but there is a different feeling when you win something and don't expect it.

The club are playing one of its biggest matches ever next month. And for all RA money Chelsea may not have another season like this for a long time enjoy it.

I'm enjoying the hell out of it, I'm just saying it's a different feeling being the hunter than the huntee. Next month is probably our biggest match since last time we played them in the CL (or maybe the Liverpool game at the end of 2001/02.

that really is a personal view, imo. I mean sure, when #8 San Jose Sharks (1995 i think) upset the #1 seeded Red Wings in their first play-offs, noone expected it and it was very nice indeed. But when Sharks made it to the western conference finals last year and finally beat Avalanche, it was even sweeter, although everyone expected us to win. So it all depends on how you perceive your hapinness, whether it's based on results or surprises (good ones, of course)

Anybody here consider Chelsea a big club.I would consider them abot the third biggest club in London and just about the top 10 in England. That's right, Totnum is a big club...
Hasn't won the league or Cup as many times as Arsenal...
Hasn't beaten Chelsea in 15 years in the league.....
Is TWENTY EIGHT points behind Chelsea
Has only won one League Cup in last 14 years
Had two good years in the early sixties and has been living off them ever since.
Has never finished in the top 6 of the Premiership
Their record signing was 11 million for a dud - Rebrov
Haven't done anything in Europe for over 20 years
They are a big laugh, not a big club....
