Andy Johnson is scoring goals.

Of the top 20 goal scores in England: Andy Johnson is the only one which does not or has not regularly played on a national side.

He deserves a call up.

There are too many players in front of him at the moment, but he does deserve at least a chance to make the squad.

Cap him in a friendly. It couldn't possibly do any damage.

Look what it did to Michael Ricketts!

Andy Johnson to me is just a hot shot. He was telling everyone that he wanted to play for Poland and then told everybody that he just wanted England to wake up and smell the coffee and call him up for the England NT.

:D

exactly! :)

I don't think that was Ricketts problem. And AJ strikes me as having a bit better talent and, just as important, attitude. Yes, he's got some Attitude. But he also seems to take training, etc, etc a bit more serious.

How many goals would Andy Johsnson have this season minus the huge number of penalties he's had?

I don't think he has enough hair to be able to play for England

And James Beattie! That's the person I think Andy Johnson most reminds me of. This is like a broken record talk of the same arguments made for Beattie 3 years ago when he had that great year for Southampton.

Just face it, Johnson isn't good enough for England. He's a fine player but not international quality. Capping him in the Holland friendly can't hurt though. He can't be worse than Darius Vassel.

At best, Andy Johnson is going to be another Kevin Phillips - a good goalscorer for a small Premiership club, but unable to reproduce it at higher levels.

All this talk about players 'deserving' an England call up is rubbish; a cap isn't a Premiership merit badge. You don't pick players simply for doing well for their clubs, you pick the players who are most likely to win games for the national team, which isn't always the same.

The truth is, England already have plenty of short, quick strikers. Defoe, Rooney and Owen are all much better than him. He's never going to take any of their squad places. I don't think we need to cap him at this point. It wouldn't be much of a loss if he did decide to play for Poland.

Whats with all this business about him playing for Poland anyway? Can someone please tell me the score.

I think he's parents are originally Polish but since he's never been capped by either country, he's free to play for either.

Much like Mark Viduka with Croatia and Australia before he chose the Aussies (wrong choice there!)

Well its

Rooney
Owen/Defoe
Smith
?-A.Jhonson/C.Cole/Ameobi/Beattie/Hesky/Vassle

He would make a pretty decent 5th striker. But I still have hope for Ameobi and C.Cole but please no more vasel

God I agree. I am also starting to doubt young Carlton's chances of ever making an impact in the EPL, at least with Chelsea.

I think you have to give C.Cole time I doubt he will stay that Chelsea but I don't think he has been able to settle that any club.

Sven would never have the guts to pick Johnsen in the England starting line up. He doesnt even have the guts to put SWP in the team. Sven is ruining many good players.
