Rafa says that Alonso will probably not play again this season and if he does it will be a "bonus."

just a way of cutting off debate to rush him back. I think nothing has really changed.

Interesting correlation between positions in this league and the high riders in the real one.

If there is a silver lining to this cloud, its that Smicer and Kewell will be able to take to the pitch Tuesday. How much they can play and what contribution they can make who knows, but at least there are options beyond Darvin Parrot.

Well this seems to get worse for LFC everyother week.
Considering January isn't over, should Rafa be looking to add another player?
Perhaps a forward, or central midfielder?
I would be lead to believe that Rafa has his eye on another player, and with the transfer of S.H. to Celtic, I think Rafa will hopefully be adding another player before Tuesday.

You think the expected return date on that link is actually correct. Because that sure would be nice to get Smicer and/or Kewell back on Tuesday.

It should be interesting to see where Smicer fits in. I think he will play the same role as Garica has for us. In fact, imo Garcia was signed as a direct result of Smicer's injury.

Very telling, especially when considering the player names within the list.

I doubt that Smicer will play this Tuesday. He hasn't played competive football since this summer and probably won't be 100% ready.

Smicer on the right, Kewell on the left... Gerrard and Hamman in the middle. That's what I'd do if I was in Rafa's position.

Neil Mellor was ruled out with a knee injury in the reserves match with Aston Villa. Hopefully Mellor doesn't require an operation that would rule him out for the rest of the campaign.
