....whenever the New England Patriots (of which I am a fan) win the "SuperBowl"; Arsenal win the EPL! With the Pats now into the Final that's the start of a good omen, but hopefully our 10 point trail will be wiped out and both teams take their respective trophies. I would hate to think that our "coming second" if that were to be, would have a "knock on" effect to the Pats. With the Red Sox clinching the World Series, it's got to be a good time to be from Boston!
"Come on guys, let's ALL go!!!" :) "Come on Arsenal; Come on Pats"!!

Sorry, but the Eagles will end that little relationship. They'll beat the Pats and Arsenal will nick the league on the last day as Chelsea ends up third in one of the worst chokes in recent history.
I sense a game similar to our victory over you guys back in 1999 that finished your playoff hopes that year. (http://espn.go.com/nfl/1999/991219/recap/nwephi.html) :D

Gotta disagree, the Eagles are gonna get bitch slapped in the SuperBowl. McNabb is a choker and this year he has saved his choking for the SuperBowl instead of the NFC Championship game. The NFC is really weak this year and the Eagles have not convinced me. Yeah, they beat Atlanta, so what, its Atlanta, they blow. I am hoping that they get smoked by the Pats and somehow Chelsea collapses in spectacular fashion. It could happen, they may have all new players but their still Chelsea. By the way, i am not a Patriots fan, but come playoff time i like to squint my eyes and pretend they are the NY Giants :D

McNabb is a choker? Are you Rush Limbaugh in disguise? :p
What the media overlooks is that this was the first year that Philly wasn't devastated by injuries by the time we reached the NFC champ game. Even with TO questionable and ongoing injuries to Corel Buckhalter and a few other players, we are in much better shape than in previous years.
Last year McNabb had to try to generate offense in the final game on a team with no other playmakers and very limited talent around him. To make matters worse, he got injured in the 2nd quarter of the game (before any of the ints) and was eventually forced to leave in the 4th quarter. Hardly a choke. Our defenseive line was destroyed by injuries and for some reason Andy kept playing Mark Simoneau as MLB despite the fact that he is useless against the run. Notice we can now stop the run something we haven't been able to do at all in any game where Simoneau played as MLB. I'm sure this would be the 2nd superbowl for Philly if we had left Simoneau at Atlanta and had any luck with injuries.

Yeah the NFC was horrible again this year but Philly is one of the few NFC teams with a good record against the AFC in recent years so that pretty much washes that argument away.
By the way, i am not a Patriots fan, but come playoff time i like to squint my eyes and pretend they are the NY Giants :D.
Oh so you're a playoff glory hunter...you might feel more comfortable cheering for ManU then (low blow but you asked for it). :D
Don't get me wrong. I understand why the Pats are favored but anyone who thinks we'll be destroyed by them is crazy. Our secondary will shut Brady down and our renewed prowess against the run should limit Dillon's chance to hurt us. McNabb, Westbrook, and TO with some help from the our young TE and emerging WRs should do ok against their banged up secondary. The Pats don't have the benefit of playing against a rookie QB or a QB from a dome team who panics outside in the cold. The Pats haven't faced a TO-type of WR this season. The closest would probably be C.Johson from the Bengals who NE barely beat despite playing the end of the game against their backup QB and despite getting 3 turnovers.
I love the fact that everyone jumped off of the Philly bandwagon once TO got injured. It will make our superbowl victory that much more enjoyable.

I second all this. I don't dare believe that Arsenal are tied to the Pats, especially seeing as how the Pats have only won 2 titles, whereas Arsenal have a few more.
And Cannon, not everyone jumped off the bandwagon, especially not in this city. Do you get the Inquirer or Daily News? Man, this thing has been ramped up huge in just a day. God, I'm hoping for a parade come February 8th or 9th.

Take the Eagles and the points, if you guys put any money on the game. I think the line is 6.5 now?

I second all this. I don't dare believe that Arsenal are tied to the Pats, especially seeing as how the Pats have only won 2 titles, whereas Arsenal have a few more.Get out your Ven diagram, again. ;) Arsenal can be champions when the Patriots aren't, but if the Patriots are/were champs, then Arsenal has always prevailed, too. Incidentally, the relationship all-time is the same for the last 5 years / this century -- 2 Patriots Superbowl victories followed by 2 EPL championships for Arsenal.

Bwahahahahahahaha!!!!! You've been reading too many of Zani's posts if your brain has rotted this much!
I'll grant that the Eagles are the best in the NFC and the only team with a chance of beating us, but it's roughly the same chance as Luxembourg's div 1 winner beating Arsenal.
We just held the top-scoring qb in history and the 5th best offence ever to 3 points, then we scored 41 on the best defence in the league and didn't allow their top-rated running game to see the light of day until it was too late for them to hurt us. Oh, and we did it with rookies and nobodies because 2 of our pro-bowl defensive players are out.
Oh, and only manu fans are still talking about 1999. If you're trying to predict the game based on past results you should think about the pounding we gave you last year.

McNabb is a choker? Are you Rush Limbaugh in disguise? So anyone who points out the fact that McNabb lost 3 NFC Championship games in a row is a racist pill popper, whatever. Let me put this way, McNabb is Peyton Manning in disguise.
What the media overlooks is that this was the first year that Philly wasn't devastated by injuries by the time we reached the NFC champ game. Even with TO questionable and ongoing injuries to Corel Buckhalter and a few other players, we are in much better shape than in previous years.
Those are great excuses, but you're still gonna lose.
Last year McNabb had to try to generate offense in the final game on a team with no other playmakers and very limited talent around him. To make matters worse, he got injured in the 2nd quarter of the game (before any of the ints) and was eventually forced to leave in the 4th quarter. Hardly a choke. Then why were they giving him the Heimlich maneuver on the sideline? :D
Yeah, if you guys were just a little luckier you could be the Buffalo Bills. ;)
Yeah the NFC was horrible again this year but Philly is one of the few NFC teams with a good record against the AFC in recent years so that pretty much washes that argument away. Wait arent the Steelers an AFC team, how did you guys do against them this year? Are the Bengals still in the AFC? I'm pretty sure they are, and the Eagles got crushed by both teams. Does that AFC record still look good?
Oh so you're a playoff glory hunter...you might feel more comfortable cheering for ManU then (low blow but you asked for it). Hey dummy, I'm a GIANTS fan. I'm sure even you can understand why i love watching the Eagles lose. And how can i be a glory hunter when i said i'm not even a fan of the Pats? I just enjoy watching the hopes of Philly fans being crushed repeatedly. I like to see it as a karmic payback for being the angriest and most bitter, loser boo-bird "fans" in the USA.
Don't get me wrong. I understand why the Pats are favored but anyone who thinks we'll be destroyed by them is crazy. Alright, call me crazy.
Our secondary will shut Brady down and our renewed prowess against the run should limit Dillon's chance to hurt us. McNabb, Westbrook, and TO with some help from the our young TE and emerging WRs should do ok against their banged up secondary. Yeah, Indy and Pittsburgh really took advantage of that weakness.
Newsflash, TO is still injured and won't be a factor. McNabb might not be the league MVP like Manning or undefeated like Roethlisberger, but he still knows how to choke in a big game. Just look at how they backed into the playoffs this year. If the NFC had one other decent team the Eagles would already be gone. Plus, unlike the Eagles, the Patsies have Superbowl experience, winning experience. But enjoy the dream while you still can, morning is coming soon. :D

Take the Eagles and the points, if you guys put any money on the game. I think the line is 6.5 now?
I never put money on sports since it just ruins it for me but I'm up for a straight up bet on here vs Pats fans.
Interesting slant on the past 2 games. I see it this way. You beat a QB who never wins vs you guys, clearly directs an offense that struggles in poor conditions, and has a history of choking in the playoffs. He performed as bad last week as he did last year when he gave up 4 ints and the general softness of the team lead to a lost fumble and safety for you guys. I won't even mention how bad the colts choked in previous road playoff games. Sorry but I'm not impressed at all with the Pats win over them. Maybe if you had gone into Indy
Your win against PIT is even less impressive. Beating an obviously shaken rookie QB who just gives you the game in the first quarter is not much to brag about. All the hype about Ben was silly, he was just an ok qb lucky enough to play on a team with a good running game and defense. However when you throw the ball to the other team repeatedly, nothing is going to help you. The fact that he was obviously having problems with his thumb, was tired from playing much more than he did the previous year in college, and even broke multiple toes in the first half just means that PIT had little chance of winning that game.
Wait arent the Steelers an AFC team, how did you guys do against them this year? Are the Bengals still in the AFC? I'm pretty sure they are, and the Eagles got crushed by both teams. Does that AFC record still look good?
Yep, PIT beat us in our worst game of the year. They basically rushed the ball down our throats and the game was over early. However, Simoneau was still our MLB in that game and was largely responsbile for us giving up a crazy 252 yards on the ground that day. Since then we've restructured our defense and Simoneau has been either playing as an outside LB or not playing at all. Since then we've held teams to 71yd, 51yd, 152yd, 50yd, 67yd, 80yd, 209yd (when we rested our starters vs Rams), 148yd (again not our starters in last week reg season), 97yd, and 99yd to the top ranked Falcons last week.
The loss to the Bengals was meaningless since we were playing guys who will see no minutes in the superbowl. Here is an interesting stat for you: since start of the 01 season Pats record is 56-16 including playoffs, eagles are 54-19 with the difference being those 3 NFC championship losses. Eagles record vs AFC teams since start of the 2001 season 9-7 with a 5-3 record since 2003 and that includes the meaningless Bengals victory.

I grew up in Philly and eventually ended up here because of work and school. If we could move the capitol to Philly, I'd be happy to go home. :D
It is weird living in a rival's city. I support the Eagles and my wife is a Cowboy fan (real fun around our house twice a year ;) ) since she was raised in Texas. We've both gotten some interesting comments from wearing our team's hats or shirts here.

Wow, i didn't know they were 9-7 against the AFC, thats amazing. But the Eagles were only 2-2 against the AFC this year, including an overtime win against the 4-12 Browns. Face it, if the Eagles were playing in the AFC they probably wouldn't have even made the playoffs. The NFC only had four teams total that finished the season with winning records, thats just pathetic. The Patsies are gonna clown you guys. :D

If there's a Pats - Arsenal connection its that both set records for consecutive league unbeaten streaks this year. 21 for the Pats, I believe, and 49 for Arsenal, of course.
I'm not a New England fan, but their record over the last two seasons, and their ability to put together a dynasty-like franchise in the free agent era, is amazing.
