29 is who I have been watching. He just put in a sweet pass into the box (Watford's first good pass all game). The person he passed it to one touched to another Watford player breaking into the box. Finnan took him out and Riley didn't blow the whistle. Replays showed that he made a mistake. Finnan might have gotten a toe on the ball, but 95% of the contact was on the Watford player's ankle. They were robbed of penalty.
Refs are terrible at spotting penalties. Perhaps the game would be better if we didn't call the damn things at all.
The obvious solution is to punish divers with 3-5 match bans but FAs and FIFA are jackasses when it comes to this stuff. If players know that they'll be subject to bans for diving (and since the camera catches all) I think it'll be so rare that when someone goes down in the box, you can damn well bet that contact was made. That'll make the ref's job much easier - and the game much better.

What I'm reading seems to corntradict the AP article about Demerit. It made him sound like a very athletic guy using fitness to compensate for a lack of skill.
His performace here seems to belie a greter level of finesse and talent than I had been lead to believe.
Good news.

I concur. He looks like he knows what he is doing.

Nah, you've just got a case of YA Fever. Symptoms of YA Fever include: Posting to YA during school/work, rating YA players much higher than anyone possibly should, and believing Bobby Convey is still 20 years old.
There are a few posters here who are immune to the Fever. Those immune include Rommul and M. Immune posters are easy to spot as like rabid dogs to water, they growl and snap at the mere presence of jri.

Not really the case. Never made any "Bruce, get this guy into camp" type comments. Just listening to the BBC broadcast and have heard the announces compliment him several times during the first half and express the fact that they were impressed by them.
Never seen the guy play, never made a statement that he was great or even good. Just expressed surprise that he was being complimented contrary to my low expectations.
Thank you for your diagnosis but I would like second opinion.

BBC announcer - I must sat Demeritt is a very good first year player (hesiatation) for a C'ship level player.
Is it Yank Fever or the guy was almost apologetic.
As I type Jay makes a veru good play and other announcer very surprised, Yeah, I tell you he has done very well."
Other announcer tosses in thst his grandparents are English. Guess that' the reason.
Have been listening for over 5 minutes and I have heard his name at least 10 ties, and all for good things.
Tall, do I have Yanl fever?

75 minute...no score.
Announcers have very little positive to say about Liverpool defender Pellegrino.
Time to throw people forward. Jay goal or Jay chase, chase, chase?

Take a self-test:
1. How old is Convey?
2. How long before Bayer sell Ponte?
3. How much money will PSV get for DMB?
4. How many MLS players should play on the the full USMNT?
5-10 is word association - Post the 1st thing that comes to mind when you read the following...
5. Baby Jesus
6. Mullet
7. jri
8. Fergie
9. (R)
10. Class
This won't be conclusive but it should give you a pretty good idea.

Hey, I've been labeled and Arena and Yank hater...just for being a little critical of players or coaches when they don't perform well or do something stupid.
It does seem that these guys have nothing but good things to say about Jay in this match.
Oh oh...1-0 Liverpool - Gerrard...Chambers makes a mess of it.

Damn. Gerrard scored around Jay after Morientes set a pick to make Jay give a studder step. By that time, Gerrard had already shot.

MPF is not a fever. It's a uncurable disease.

But unlike foot-n-mouth and FC Dallas Playoff Fever it is at least possible for humans to catch it! :p

QUOTE=FC Tallavana]Take a self-test:
1. How old is Convey? 22 next mt - not in the same league as LD or DMB, and shouldn't be mentioned as such (have been saying for years)
2. How long before Bayer sell Ponte? Why would they sell a proven starter?
3. How much money will PSV get for DMB? Hahaha...classic. 200 million...lira
Tell you in two years.
4. How many MLS players play on the the full USMNT? Several...don't get this question
5-10 is word association - Post the 1st thing that comes to mind when you read the following...
5. Baby Jesus Fairy tale
6. Mullet Bait fish
7. jri Well meaning, I like him, just have to understand where he is coming from - an enthusiastic fan who wears red, white and blue goggles
8. Fergie See that new weight loss system she's peddling now, she still isn't hot
9. (R) Got me, truely stumped on that one, answer please
10. Class Ahh, Jacky Bissett is a piece of ass and Rob Lowe is a dweeb
