I usually try and get a game in during Easter time. I think it will more likely be the Auxerre match or failing that, Nice a month later.

I have no doubt that this is the case. As with the rest of society, it is aways a small minority that make the majority look bad (or in the case of the US, the 51% that voted for Bush!..oops did I say that?:D)
Either way if anyone is going to that game let me know!
You mean the Nantes game? I'm there.........

BUMP!
Kind of sad, that this PSG forum turns into a discussion between two guys from Chicago. Come on PSG fans, where should I go pre game? Where should I head to watch Champions leage (I'll be staying in arrondissment 1).
They don't make a travel guide for Football fans! :)

1er eh? Thats pretty central.
PdP is in the 26th........I think.
You should be slap bang next to Les Halles no? Forum des Halles is a cool place to check out. Its like a little garden carved in the Parisian centre. http://www.insecula.com/musee/M0104.html/
Depends what you interested in. I'll check out some bars for you. I must warn you these come reccomendations of friends. And some of them tell me stuff that is not exactly suitable for the first-time / newbie Parisian.
Christ where's Jonathan when you need him? He's my Paris bar buddy.

Well..... I came back a little of a PSG fan.
No one will replace my Club America....but it's nice to have a French team I can like.
The game was ok and then it was just fantastic after Pauleta's late strike (Nantes game).
I also could tell that Rotchen and Yepes were crowd favorites.
By the way, you Parisians have a beautiful city and you were also wonderful hosts to my girl and I. Thank You. but damn you ganu for not posting that info before I left.about where to go in Paris. Oh well, still had a wonderful time.
Can't wait to go back to the Parc de Princes and Paris soon enough.
by the way......
Larrue Demision!

Merci. ;)
I'm just glad that we won.
Sorry about not posting that earlier. One of two reasons. I didn't see it and I probably couldn't have spent the time getting the info together. In the coming months I intend to get cracking on a guide to Paris for this forum, to help people going to watch the team play.
Rothen is my fave player - mainly because he has PSG in his heart. Yepes too has the admiration of the fans with his recent performances.
And yeah, Larrue and the LFP can go ******** themselves. :D

I just got back from Paris and thought I'd throw up a few pix from the PSG vs. Bordeaux match on 4/9/05. Had to bring the FIRE scarf too!

Away Fans @ Parc des Princes Note the protective covering to the side and above the Bordeaux fan section.
Game comments: The atmosphere was incredible and what I expected (my first game outside of US). The Parc roared when PSG staked out a 1-0 lead 20 minutes into the match. PSG conceded a PK with about 15 minutes left and the Parc was screeching with whistling that almost shattered my glasses.
BEWARE CRITICISM:
Sadly if 41,000 fans at an average of 44 Euro each can only buy you a team the quality of PSG, then MLS is doing something right. The quality of play was simply awful. Some clever touches here and there, but at the expense of smarter passes. Cisse and especially Yepes were disasters. Aside from the two expansion teams, I'd expect any MLS team to draw either of these French sides (currently 11th and 12th in League 1) at a neutral ground.
The fans were great and I had many broken English/French conversations about the Fire and the NBA "Tony Parkeur!"
General Paris Reflections:
Overall the city was spectacular. We watched the first leg of Chelsea/Bayern at O'Brien's Irish Pub on Rue St. Dominique. I'd suggest having a tad bit more than the basics of French down when you arrive in Paris. If you stick only to the main touristy areas, you can get by with English, but if you like traveling off the beaten path, know a bit of French.
The Metro is great and seems to be everywhere (except very near the Eiffel Tower?). Paris seems to have on display the highest highs and the lowest lows of urban living. The highs being the architecture, the food, the language, the arts, and the extensive public transit. The lows being the bathrooms (no thrones in some places, just squat holes!), homeless and garbage. The dog poop problem isn't that bad any more after the passage of a 2004 law, but dog pee is still common on the sidewalks. (Dogs are treated as members of society in Paris. They are welcome in restraunts and the Metro!)
It was a great experience and we would definately go back!

Great post, Pyro. ;) :)
You were lucky in so much as the Auteuil were back on form and singing. The Boulogne is still pretty quiet though - you should it hear when both start singing off to eachother; it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stick up.
As for our peformance, it wasn't the best. Bordeaux aren't exactly the best team either. The 2nd half was totally abysmal. :(
Even though, that was your first PdP trip, I won't try and sugarcoat it - we are crap at the minute.
Paris is a great city, but like most major European cities, it does have its ugly side.

Nice post, Pyro. I can only agree with Ganu : watch PSG-Bordeaux this season was a bad luck, since both teams are really low (of course, you can't choose your vacations according the league schedule !).
I must admit the Ligue can be pretty boring: as a Strasbourg supporter, I've followed some games as thrilling as.... let's say a "Matlock" episode played on slow-motion. You have to really love your home city in games like this.
You're right about the "darkside" of Paris, and it's the same in Strasbourg. I'm sure you can say the same about nearly every city on earth (except maybe Monaco). If you step aside the tourist's quarters, you see things the brochure didn't tell about. Plus, France is currently in deep economic crisis : unemployement is at it's peak and average public debt is 16 000 € per citizen. We're low, and not only in soccer.
